North Shields: A Cyan Dream (Blog Post #8457)

Hey gorgeous dancers! 👋 It’s Emma, back with another thrilling tale from the tutu-filled world! Today, I'm waltzing my way through the charming North Shields, a little coastal gem nestled in the heart of Northumberland.

Sunshine streamed in through the train window as I whizzed along, my trusty pink tutu (naturally!) nestled beside me. Every journey is an adventure in itself, especially when it's aboard a train – I find something strangely calming about watching the scenery blur by, with the rhythmic chugging of the engine providing a beautiful backdrop. It’s almost like a ballet performance itself, don’t you think?

As the train pulled into the station, I knew this was going to be a special trip. The salty air was laced with the promise of adventure, and I could already feel the rhythm of the ocean whispering secrets to my soul.

My first stop was the bustling Fish Quay, where I couldn't resist indulging in a spot of fish and chips. Freshly cooked and oh-so-delicious, I devoured it with glee – the salty sea air added an extra layer of flavor. I love exploring new places and their culinary delights – it's almost like an extended choreography for my senses!

But enough about food, darling! We’re here for the dancing, and this seaside town definitely has a rhythm of its own! After my fish and chips feast, I decided to venture to the heart of North Shields, to the beautiful St. Alban's Church, which boasts an impressive stained glass window that’s a vibrant ballet of colours! Standing amidst the ancient stonework, I imagined the centuries-old stories the building held, and it felt almost as if the echoes of generations of dancers' footsteps whispered around me.

To complete my little dance exploration, I then stopped at the Tyne Theatre & Opera House, an impressive, old, beautiful building! Now, I love me a good theatrical ballet – but sometimes I crave something a little different. So, I decided to go exploring around this wonderful theatre – a little ballet inspiration from its historic past. This time I even indulged in a backstage peek (with permission of course!) It felt almost like entering the magical land of dreams, full of stories untold. I imagined ballerinas swirling in their tutus, their leaps sending the audience into a state of euphoria.

As the day began to wind down, the sun painted the sky with streaks of fire, a perfect crescendo to the vibrant performance of North Shields. I grabbed a hot chocolate from a nearby café and enjoyed the beauty of the moment – my mind still swirling with all the sights and sounds of the day.

And before I let you go, my dearest dancers, I must tell you, the highlight of my North Shields experience was the sight of a magnificent seagull gracefully soaring overhead, reminding me that even the humblest of creatures can dance with the utmost elegance! It's a beautiful reminder to embrace the dance of life, in all its forms, wherever it may take you.

Now, I urge you, my lovelies, to embrace your inner dancer and make a pink tutu-clad pilgrimage to North Shields. Whether you’re a seasoned ballerino or a tentative first-time toe-stepper, the seaside spirit will have you dancing under the sea-kissed sky!

And remember, darling, wear your heart on your sleeve – or should I say, on your pink tutu!

Until next time, Emma x
