Trowbridge Calling! Tutu Time in the West Country!

Hello, darlings! Emma here, reporting live from sunny Trowbridge. Can you believe it's September already?! It feels like yesterday I was frolicking in the fields, sunshine glinting off my pink tutu, a swarm of butterflies fluttering around me (oh, the magic of Derbyshire summers!)

This week, however, I've swapped meadows for the Cotswolds and the scent of lavender for the thrill of the theatre. That's right, my dears, it's tutu time in the West Country! And for this grand adventure, I've packed a little something special… a German tutu, no less! This glorious creation, adorned with delicate embroidery and an elegant swish, is going to be the perfect accompaniment for exploring the quaint, historical town of Trowbridge.

Now, I know what you're thinking – Trowbridge? Where exactly is that, Emma? Let me explain! Trowbridge is a little gem nestled in Wiltshire, a region known for its rolling hills, charming villages, and... dare I say it... excellent tea shops. (Just what a tutu-wearing, tea-loving girl needs, am I right?)

I've been dying to visit this area for ages, ever since I read a thrilling article in Dance magazine about a wonderful ballet school nestled in the heart of Trowbridge. Turns out, it's called the Trowbridge Ballet Academy and has been turning out top-notch dancers for decades. Of course, I simply had to go and see this wonder for myself!

As you all know, I'm a huge advocate for ballet being accessible to everyone. So, when I found out the Academy offered classes for all ages and abilities, I practically leaped out of my pink pointe shoes with excitement. After all, how can you not fall in love with the elegance, grace, and sheer fun of ballet? And, of course, nothing beats getting those tutus swirling!

Now, arriving in Trowbridge felt like stepping back in time. Charming cobbled streets, independent boutiques brimming with treasures, and that gorgeous Cotswold stone – absolutely breathtaking! I found my lodgings in a quaint, rosy-hued guesthouse (of course!), where the landlady welcomed me with the warmest smile and a cup of fragrant tea. Heaven!

My first day in Trowbridge was a whirl of tutu-tastic activities. I started the morning with a delicious, pink-tinged latte in a quaint cafe, complete with a dreamy view of the local park. Afterwards, I headed to the Trowbridge Museum, where I was absolutely mesmerized by a fascinating collection of Victorian era furniture, clothing, and even a charming puppet show! (The costumes were pure inspiration, let me tell you). Of course, I couldn't resist snapping a few pictures, twirling in my German tutu against the backdrop of the museum's charming architecture.

Afternoon saw me stepping into the Trowbridge Ballet Academy for a delightful class with the most enthusiastic and inspiring teacher. The energy in the room was simply infectious, with every dancer eager to learn and to perfect their techniques. It's incredible to see so many individuals, of all shapes and sizes, embrace the art of ballet with such passion! (I might have even sneakily added a few of my own ballet tips - shh!)

My evening concluded with a grand performance at the Trowbridge Civic Hall. The local theatre group was presenting a Romeo and Juliet adaptation and my German tutu was the perfect companion for such a dramatic and beautiful evening! I sat mesmerized as the actors danced and sang their hearts out. I especially loved the costumes – so flamboyant and evocative, just like in my dreams!

This, my dears, was only a taste of the magic that is Trowbridge. And, let's be honest, who doesn't need a touch of magic in their lives? My trip here was a delightful reminder that ballet is everywhere – even in the quaintest of English towns! So, why not put on your favourite pink tutu and embark on a little ballet adventure of your own? You never know where your journey might lead!

And now, a quick update on my current love for animals. You know how I love a good wildlife spotting trip? Well, Trowbridge did not disappoint. I spotted a charming family of squirrels scampering through the park, a curious fox looking out from behind the cobbled streets (don't worry, no tutus were harmed in the process!), and even a magnificent pheasant strutting its stuff on the outskirts of town. I even heard some local folk talk about spotting a golden eagle gliding overhead! It's enough to make you want to ditch your pointe shoes for a pair of binoculars!

But don't think this trip was all about the arts and wildlife. There was also plenty of delicious food to be enjoyed. Trowbridge's culinary scene is simply bursting with charming cafes, bakeries, and gastropubs, all vying for my taste buds! (You all know my favourite pastime involves both food and ballet! Why settle for just one? ) From fluffy, pink-hued scones and macarons that taste like a dream, to juicy gourmet burgers with perfectly crafted sides – I sampled everything!

And lastly, darling, you simply cannot explore Trowbridge without indulging in its local market! It's a delightful blend of traditional crafts, fresh local produce, and charming little stalls filled with curious finds. You might even find a vintage tutu or two! (Just remember to wear your dancing shoes!) It's an experience that leaves you feeling like you've travelled back in time – the perfect accompaniment to a beautiful day exploring the charming streets.

So there you have it, darlings – a snippet of my fabulous adventure in the wonderful world of Trowbridge. From elegant ballets to vibrant wildlife and delightful culinary delights, Trowbridge truly has it all. I encourage you to visit this quaint little town – just promise me you'll bring a pink tutu with you! After all, every day should be a ballet adventure!

Love,

Emma xx
