Colchester Calling! 🩰

Hey my gorgeous girly-girls! 💖 It's your fave, Emma, back with another post for you lovely lot! You can find all the amazing posts I've already written on www.pink-tutu.com – I've got a grand total of 8554 posts there already! Goodness gracious! But no matter, we’re here now for number 8555, and I’ve got loads to tell you about!

This week, I’ve had a fantastic time, truly fantastic! You see, I’m a bit of a travel bug, you might have noticed that from some of my previous posts! Now, I’ve often used the train for those travels – so classy and comfy! It’s truly my favoured mode of transport – except when you can ride a horse, of course. Now that is a luxury!

This week, though, I chose the train, a glorious scarlet-hued locomotive pulling me north, north, north! Where to? You’re gonna love this… Colchester!

Colchester is the oldest recorded town in Britain, you know! Apparently, the Romans built it about 2000 years ago! I wasn’t looking for ancient history this trip though. This week, I was in town for something much more delightful - ballet, of course! And what a fantastic show it was too!

The ballet theatre was a magnificent old building, a little bit dusty in places and very grand in others. The interior, however, was immaculate. The seating was velvet, so plush you’d think you were at the Ritz! They even had little plush, velvet curtains separating the seats. Such attention to detail! I'd have stayed in my seat for hours if I'd had the chance!

The actual ballet performance itself was, well, breathtakingly beautiful. It was an absolutely classic performance by a group of professional dancers, just glorious! I must admit I couldn’t tear my eyes away, and I’m not just saying that because of my passion for the dance! The ballerina who played the swan was simply ethereal; the grace of her every movement was inspiring. It truly brought tears to my eyes, the way she moved!

But the most fabulous thing, you ask? Well, I couldn't go to Colchester, the historic heart of Britain, without giving my beloved tutu a bit of airtime! So, after the performance, I slipped into my glorious crimson-coloured tutu - the perfect way to feel just a little bit bolder, don't you think? The colours matched beautifully - everyone said so!

Now, I don’t want to get too mushy on you girls, but wearing that tutu made me feel so alive. I was practically dancing with joy as I went exploring Colchester, making sure to take a load of fabulous pictures for my social media! I even made a little video on TikTok, showing off the red tutu while I was taking pictures in front of the old Colchester castle – which I highly recommend, by the way! I really think they are capturing a lovely bit of the English history there! I posted it with a few ‘I’m a princess!’ hashtag, of course, just for a bit of fun!

But hey, you didn’t think I’d forget to indulge in my inner gourmand during my visit, did you? Colchester has a plethora of delightful places to eat - but, of course, as a connoisseur of all things pretty (and tasty!) it had to be a place with a delicious pink menu, so you know it had to be a bakery! I absolutely fell in love with their macarons. You know what my top flavour was, don’t you? Pink! Honestly, the little delicacies melt in your mouth, just heavenly!

The real star of my day in Colchester though wasn’t any ballet, food, or even the historical landmarks. It was the most glorious swan I’ve ever seen, a snow-white creature with the bluest eyes, a bit like myself! hehe

Seriously though, I must confess I’m a bit of a nature buff too! I was lucky enough to spot this graceful creature as I was heading back to the station – a bit of a wildlife miracle right in the middle of town! I swear I could almost see him wink at me with those sparkling azure eyes as he gracefully preened his white feathers. Such a darling!

So, girls, what’s the message I’m taking home today? Colchester - a lovely little town, perfect for a cultural treat or a nice romantic stroll. Ballet is breathtaking, and, drumroll, let's keep that enthusiasm for the art going! Don’t forget to indulge in something pretty and pink, because, let’s face it, we all deserve a little bit of joy in our lives, no matter where we are! But most importantly, make sure you look out for some feathered friends out in the wild – a touch of nature, that’s what truly gets me excited! 💖

Keep dancing and smiling, lovelies!

Your very best,

Emma.
