Oxford Bound in My Feather Tutu! (Post #8802)

Hello, darlings! It’s Emma here, writing to you from the most magical city in the world – Oxford!

Now, you all know I'm a huge fan of a good train journey, so you can imagine how delighted I was to board the train in Derby, all ready to "choo-choo" my way to the birthplace of Harry Potter! Okay, maybe that's pushing it, but Oxford does have an incredible literary history, right? It feels like magic, I tell you, stepping back in time amidst all those ancient stone buildings and dreaming of spires reaching towards the sky!

Before I went exploring the university, I had to visit the majestic Blenheim Palace. It was even more magnificent in real life, you wouldn't believe the grandeur. I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement, imagining the glamorous balls and social events that would have been held within its walls. I'm not ashamed to say I had a proper twirl around the ballroom! 😉

And speaking of twirling, I simply had to wear my feather tutu for this trip. Pink, of course. I mean, who could resist this glorious creation?! With every swish and swirl, the feathers danced around me, making me feel like a graceful, ethereal fairy – like I’d just stepped out of a storybook! I had so much fun posing in the gardens and just twirling through the grounds, trying to get the best picture possible with my feathers fluttering. I swear I even got some great shots with a majestic swan! You know I can't resist a good photo op! 🩰

It was a balmy afternoon, the air whispering tales of romance and beauty. The scent of lavender lingered in the air, as if the palace itself was holding its breath for a fairy tale to unfold. You know I was wearing my trusty little flower crown. (Because who needs a tiara when you've got a floral crown?)

Now, what’s an Oxford adventure without a trip to the iconic Sheldonian Theatre? You can bet I did some impromptu ballet poses inside – just picture the glorious chandeliers, the wooden stalls… sighs It felt almost sacrilegious to actually sit down! The theatre seemed to vibrate with the spirit of so many grand performances, a symphony of music and dancing resonating throughout the ages. The beauty and grandeur of the place made me feel like a princess! (I think the true Princess of Wales had been in Oxford a couple of days before, but who's keeping count?)

Of course, a trip to Oxford wouldn’t be complete without a wander through the beautiful, cobbled streets, right? With a latte in hand (oh yes, I always need my caffeine!), I enjoyed the bustling student life, the smell of fresh pastries from independent coffee shops, and the quiet whispers from ancient books tucked away in libraries. I had to take some time to browse the many secondhand book shops and antique stores; you can always find the most unique and beautiful treasures hidden within these treasure troves.

Later on, after another wonderful stroll and afternoon tea (always a treat!), I found myself near the River Thames. And guess what I saw? Swans! Not just one or two, but a whole flock, gracefully gliding across the water. I've always been so fascinated by swans; they hold a certain beauty and elegance that always makes me stop and marvel. It felt like they understood the quiet serenity of the day just as well as I did.

The perfect ending to this fairy tale journey through Oxford? Well, it was watching the sunset over the famous Radcliffe Camera, its beautiful sandstone facade lit with the warm glow of the dying sun. It was as if the entire city was bathed in the soft, pink hues of a romantic movie montage! That moment truly made me understand the romance and the beauty of this incredible city.

Now, before I end my blog, I just want to leave you with a reminder: we're all capable of transforming the ordinary into something extraordinary. You don't have to travel to Oxford to feel like a princess. Embrace your inner-fairy, find a touch of pink, and put on your own magical feather tutu – no matter the occasion. It's all about unleashing the magic within. ✨

Emma xxx
