Harrow - Tutu Travels, Post 8803!

Oh my darling Tutu lovers,

Another day, another fabulously pink adventure! I just knew I had to venture into Harrow today, drawn in by the whispers of delicious pastries and the promise of a charming little cafe with all the pink vibes. As you know, I am a firm believer in living life in a pink tutu - and what better way to do that than with a tasty treat in tow?

Let's rewind for a second, though, because before I was swept away by the lure of pastries, I had a dream morning. Imagine this: I woke up to the sound of birdsong and the gentle rustling of leaves. Sunshine was pouring through my window, making my whole room shimmer like a princess's castle (well, almost - my room might be slightly less extravagant). I treated myself to a hot cup of Earl Grey with a touch of honey, savouring the stillness of the early morning before my busy day ahead.

Since I was planning to be in Harrow for most of the day, I had the wonderful opportunity to put together an absolutely stunning pink outfit that incorporated my love for both ballet and the colour that makes my heart sing! This morning, I decided to opt for a soft, pale pink ballet skirt, cascading down in all its glorious layers. Paired with a white T-shirt featuring a cute ballet shoe design, it was simple but chic, like a ballerina in off-duty attire.

Of course, a fabulous outfit wouldn't be complete without some dazzling accessories! I chose my favourite ballet flats, sparkling with glitter and topped with a pink satin ribbon. For that extra touch of magic, I adorned my wrist with a delicate, shimmering pink bracelet, reminding me of the ballerinas gracefully twirling on stage. It was truly the perfect outfit for a day filled with sunshine and sugar-filled delights!

Speaking of delights... Harrow itself is a beautiful little town, with its quaint cobbled streets and charming independent shops. It's easy to get lost in the quiet atmosphere, and even the squirrels scampering about seemed to be imbued with a sense of peaceful serenity. However, my biggest love in Harrow turned out to be a tiny cafe nestled away in a peaceful courtyard.

Oh, the moment I walked in, the air was thick with the most intoxicating aromas of freshly baked bread and rich, dark coffee! The cafe's walls were painted in a warm, welcoming peach, dotted with antique teacups and vintage photos. It felt like a little slice of fairytale heaven! Of course, they had a variety of pastel-hued pastries that screamed my name.

I ended up settling on a raspberry and rosewater macaron, each delicate bite a cloud of sweetness on my tongue. The perfect start to a day in Harrow!

Afterwards, I decided to explore a little bit further. Harrow has a history rich in literature and learning, and I simply couldn't resist a visit to the Harrow School. Even though I was just wandering about the impressive grounds, it was like stepping into a chapter of a grand, old novel. The gothic architecture, the manicured lawns, and the echoes of generations of brilliant minds filled the air, making it almost magical. I found a charming little bench tucked away near a majestic oak tree and allowed myself to get lost in the story of Harrow School, imagining the generations of students that have walked these paths, dreamt their dreams and strived for their goals.

Feeling inspired, I popped into a local bookstore (my guilty pleasure, as you all know) and browsed the shelves, looking for something that might pique my interest. I ended up purchasing a vintage ballet book with an old-fashioned, beautifully ornate cover. I simply had to have it.

As afternoon began to turn into evening, I decided to treat myself to a special dinner in Harrow's town centre. There were some really intriguing restaurants that looked like they had everything from traditional British pubs to sleek, contemporary eateries, but my pink-tutu heart couldn't resist the promise of Italian cuisine. The aromas of fresh basil and the promise of mouth-watering pasta were simply too enticing to resist! I indulged in a creamy mushroom risotto topped with a sprinkling of parmesan cheese - it was simply divine!

And of course, I had to wear a ballet-themed outfit for this fine occasion! I donned a beautiful pale pink silk blouse with a swirling design of delicate ballerina silhouettes - simply ethereal! Paired with dark tailored trousers and ballet flats, it created an effortless chic look, just right for the beautiful restaurant.

To end my adventure in Harrow, I made my way to the Harrow Arts Centre, always a firm favourite on any tutu travels. This time, there was an intriguing exhibition about the history of local theatre - perfect for a ballerina like me who loves the stage as much as the studio. There were posters, photographs, and old programs, which reminded me of how powerful art can be to uplift and inspire audiences all over the world.

The highlight of my trip to the arts centre was an impromptu street performance by a group of dancers. Their performance was raw, powerful, and bursting with life - it made my heart soar! Their energetic movements, the infectious joy radiating from every gesture, and the beauty of their movements reminded me of everything I love about ballet. I felt a familiar pull, the one that draws me towards dance, to that timeless, universal language of motion and grace.

As I bid farewell to Harrow, I felt that familiar glow of contentment. My travels often lead me to places I never thought I would explore, but they also teach me so much about myself, about the world, and most importantly, about the enduring magic of ballet.

Here's to exploring new places and celebrating the joy of ballet! Remember, darling tutu lovers, the world is your stage! Wear your pink tutu proudly and always strive for greatness.

Stay twirling!

Emma xx
