East Ham: Feather Tutu Adventures (Post #8853)

Oh my darling Tutu-lovers, how are you all? Did you have a fabulous weekend? I know I did, because, well, you know me - I always do!

This weekend I travelled to East Ham, just a little hop on the train from Derbyshire - a real whistle-stop adventure! I just can't resist exploring all the amazing places the UK has to offer. I even treated myself to a cheeky trip on a horse-drawn carriage through the park, just for a touch of old-fashioned romance!

Now, you all know how much I love tutus. A tutu is more than just a piece of clothing for me; it’s an embodiment of joy, creativity and endless possibilities. But when I stumbled across this exquisite feather tutu in a little boutique on my way to the station, my heart skipped a beat. It was just calling to me. Honestly, how could I resist those dreamy plumes of pink feather fluff? It felt like I'd stepped straight onto a stage set - a vision in pink! I knew instantly it was the perfect companion for my East Ham escapades.

First stop? A ballet class in the most beautiful old theatre in the heart of East Ham. Stepping into the building felt like stepping back in time. You could almost feel the history of all the dancers who had danced on that stage before. I’m just obsessed with the history of ballet, especially how it's evolved from the elegant grandeur of the 19th century to the dynamic, energetic styles of today. Even with its rich history, I adore how ballet constantly evolves, just like fashion! It keeps the art form feeling fresh, inspiring, and, of course, full of wonder!

This particular class was a mix of contemporary and classical techniques, which I love. I am always pushing my own dance boundaries, and trying new things is such a beautiful way to learn and grow! It was so inspiring, seeing other dancers from all walks of life embracing the art form with such joy. This class reminded me that ballet is more than a style of dance, it's a powerful expression of our emotions. It allows us to soar, to feel the rhythm of life, and to truly embrace the beauty of our bodies.

After a wonderfully sweaty ballet session, it was time for some afternoon tea - an absolute must for every dancer, wouldn't you say? I took a little walk around the historic market square in East Ham, taking in the atmosphere, feeling the vibrant energy of this beautiful part of London.

The next stop was the ballet. It was a show I'd been eagerly waiting for, “Giselle” - such a timeless ballet masterpiece! I absolutely adored seeing the classic choreography and incredible costumes. The stage sets and the performance itself felt utterly magical! Watching all the dancers moving so gracefully, with so much passion, really inspired me. It's an unforgettable ballet that celebrates both beauty and sorrow in equal measure - something I find so profound about the art form, because it's so similar to the beautiful spectrum of emotions that we experience as humans.

I left the theatre completely swept away by the story of “Giselle”. What I adore about ballet is that you never get tired of watching the same piece. There's always something new to notice, a nuance in movement, an emotion in the dancers' faces. The theatre is such a powerful space. The audience feels united through the sheer power and elegance of this incredible art form.

As I finished writing this blog in my cozy hotel room in East Ham (my hotel room just had to be pink, naturally), it got me thinking about all the ways in which ballet is intertwined with our everyday lives. It’s not just a performance, but a source of inspiration that shines through in every aspect of our world. Whether it's in the elegant way a bird soars in the sky, or the delicate grace of a flower swaying in the wind, ballets graceful movement is everywhere.

And of course, my dearest tutu lovers, I cannot leave you without my little mission! As always, I’m hoping to inspire you to take the plunge and wear your own tutu - go on, you won’t regret it! Every tutu-wearing opportunity is an adventure! I'm dedicated to encouraging every single one of you to discover the magic of ballet. Try a class, watch a show, dance at home! It might just spark a love for ballet in you, just like it sparked mine! Don’t forget to share your own Tutu Adventures with me.

And remember, a feather tutu, pink, and a ballet performance are a wonderful mix. It makes my heart sing!

See you soon, and don’t forget to wear your pink tutu!

Lots of love, Emma xx
