Weston-super-Mare: Tutu Time at the Seaside!

Post Number 8854

Hello darlings! It’s Emma here, and I'm absolutely buzzing to share my latest adventure with you – a day trip to Weston-super-Mare! Now, I know what you're thinking, “Emma, Weston-super-Mare? That's not exactly the most glamorous destination, is it?" And you’re right, darlings, it isn't quite Paris, but it has a certain charmingly retro, slightly faded seaside glamour that truly captured my heart. Plus, Weston-super-Mare had a fabulous surprise in store, and let me tell you, it had me twirling with glee!

This week I'm channeling the very essence of seaside chic! You all know I'm a sucker for a pretty pink tutu, and today's number was extra special. Picture a swirling cascade of blush pink tulle, edged with shimmering silver sequins, topped off with a fluffy, pale pink feather boa – the very definition of ballerina chic, wouldn’t you say?

The train journey was delightful, you know, the wind whipping through my hair and the countryside scenery flying past like a ballet. I felt so wonderfully free, like a graceful swan taking flight, although I may have needed to shimmy into a wider seat thanks to my generous tutu. (Isn’t that always the way?) The only thing missing was my trusty companion, Barnaby, my trusty and oh-so-handsome bay steed, I simply cannot go anywhere without Barnaby.

After a short, but picturesque journey, we arrived at Weston-super-Mare and my, oh my, was it a vision of nostalgia! There were the classic amusements, the pier with its boisterous, joyful atmosphere, and rows of quaint little shops, brimming with beachy treasures and delicious smelling ice cream!

Speaking of ice cream, Weston-super-Mare had a surprise up its sleeve, and I have to say, I absolutely loved it! In the heart of the town square, amidst the buzzing crowds, I stumbled upon the most whimsical treat – an entirely pink ice cream parlour!

I could hardly contain my excitement! The decor was a fairytale dream – swirls of pink and pastel shades, glittery chandeliers, and, of course, a majestic display of pink, pink, pink ice cream, all made with fresh local ingredients. It was a true paradise for a tutu-wearing, pink-loving, ballerina like myself!

After a delectable pink ice cream (strawberry and cream, with a swirl of bubblegum flavoured frosting, if you must know) , I decided to wander along the beach. And that is when I found my inspiration, or should I say my muse! A magnificent seagull perched atop a colourful beach hut, looking every bit as dramatic as a prima ballerina poised for the grand finale. Oh, to be able to soar like a bird!

This magnificent seagull wasn’t alone – a whole troupe of them had joined him, strutting along the shoreline like a majestic ensemble of feathered ballerinas, preening their plumage and showcasing their best moves for the onlooking tourists. Their synchronised dance moves were impressive, to say the least – they were certainly better at pirouettes than my trusty old gym teacher.

They even managed to execute a perfect series of leaps and dips, leaving me feeling awestruck, especially the little seagull chick who seemed determined to win the “best performer of the day" award with her cute wobbly steps. My creative wheels were spinning faster than a pirouette – I needed to capture this seagull ensemble in their natural habitat – they would make a beautiful photo shoot!

But first, I had to pay homage to my feathered idols with a little impromptu dance performance!

I found a lovely spot on the golden sand, away from the throngs of tourists and let the rhythm take over! I spun and twirled, evoking a little bit of ballet class, a sprinkle of jazz, and a touch of flamenco for good measure – I am sure they felt my balletic appreciation for their impressive dancing skills.

There was so much laughter, so much joy – my pink tutu seemed to perfectly complement the cheerful ambiance of Weston-super-Mare.

It was such a delightful, happy experience - that I think this fabulous seaside town may be adding another chapter to my ‘Favourite places to twirl’ book! And with so much beauty all around, it’s just impossible not to dream about pink tutus and seaside sunsets.

And speaking of dreams, don't forget to visit www.pink-tutu.com. Tell me about your favourite beach – which one holds the best memories for you? Do you have a special tutu you wear on the beach? What's the most exciting dance move you've tried while wearing a pink tutu? Share your thoughts, your dreams, and let's keep the spirit of ballet alive!

Until next time darlings!

Yours in pink tulle,

Emma
