Barking Up a Tree with a Cyan Tutu: Post #8888

Helloooo darlings!

It’s your girl Emma, back from another adventure and bursting to tell you all about it. I feel like I say that every day, but honestly, my life is such a whirlwind of pink, twirls, and travel that it truly is a new adventure every single time!

Today I’m writing to you from… drum roll… Barking! Yep, you heard that right. I'm actually writing this from the charmingly named Barking Riverside, a spot that is absolutely overflowing with charm (not to mention cute ducks – I think they were smitten with my cyan tutu, which I’m sporting in this week’s vlog).

I arrived here on a whim, taking a train up to the bright lights of London (London is ALWAYS a good idea) and deciding to extend the journey just a tad, exploring this unique little corner of the city. Who needs a theatre performance when you have a train journey? I always say that the best performance is often happening on the carriage, and with my pink tutu swirling around me and a delicious latte in hand, this train ride was no exception. I met the loveliest fellow traveller, too. He was completely mesmerized by my tutu and told me his dog, Princess, had the same kind of dress (you should see the pictures!)… So naturally, we’re arranging a tutu-twinning tea party!

I'm telling you, this pink life just gets better and better!

Speaking of the bright lights, let’s rewind a little. This past weekend was all about dazzling and twirling under the stage lights. First up, a performance by the Royal Ballet in Covent Garden. You guys, it was divine. The choreography, the costumes, the music, everything! It had me practically leaping out of my seat and twirling myself in the aisles (not literally, darling – it would be far too embarrassing for my pink reputation). My favourite part? The principal dancer’s incredible arabesque; it was breathtaking. I swear, they make it look so effortless! But that’s ballet, isn’t it? It’s all about hard work, dedication, and a healthy dose of magic.

The next night was all about street ballet! It’s been a little while since I indulged in the thrill of a street ballet performance, but it was a joy to see the art form shine under the open sky. Imagine the stage lights being replaced with a backdrop of glistening stars, and the audience taking on a whole new dimension of open-air intimacy… I felt like I could almost touch the stars, especially after seeing one particular dance number inspired by the aurora borealis – it truly blew me away! I almost felt a pang of jealousy; my own tutus don't come with the built-in Northern Lights magic.

And just when I thought things couldn't get any better, my weekend finished with a class in an unexpected but charming ballet studio in Soho. I wasn’t even planning on it; I was simply passing by, enchanted by the faint sounds of the music filtering through the window. I couldn't help but peek inside, and before I knew it, I was joining the other dancers in a session that felt more like a ballet haven than anything else. The atmosphere was magical. All I needed was a pink tulle cloud floating over my head, and I could’ve sworn I was transported to a land where all our ballet dreams come true! I know it's a tad cheesy, but it was truly one of those 'perfect moment' things that make this pink life so worthwhile!

Anyway, enough about me for now. Let’s get into what’s really exciting…

A New Dance with a Dash of Derbyshire

You know how I’ve been hinting about some exciting new ventures lately? Well, darlings, hold onto your tiaras!

Get ready to experience the beauty and grace of ballet like you never have before – it’s time to combine my two passions – travel and ballet - with a unique twist!

I’ve been working on a secret project for a while, and now I can finally share it with you: I’m partnering with a travel company that’s focusing on the hidden beauty of England, but not just ANY travel, oh no! Imagine travelling through Derbyshire on horseback – that’s the Derbyshire we're going to explore, my dear friends, all while being guided by professional horse riders (because, you know, I haven't got time for any falls. That would mean a pink-tutu-themed cast! Imagine!) And the pièce de résistance? We'll be stopping off at the most picturesque locations and setting up impromptu, open-air ballet classes with incredible choreographers! Can you even imagine the incredible memories we'll be creating together? Imagine the photos; the tulles will be swirling under the open sky, against the backdrop of rolling hills! Swoon.

I’ll be sharing all the details soon, but I’m SO excited!

Ballet in Every Way

Before I go, let’s talk about those beautiful birds you saw in my vlog. Oh, I'm sorry, did you not know they were part of the choreography? (Lol, I do make everything a bit more dramatic, but you know me, I love it when my ballerina and blogger self overlap!).

Okay, so about the birds. If you know anything about me, you know that I have a serious soft spot for wildlife, which might make you think I'm a little odd. What's a ballerina with a love of fluffy animals got to do with everything else, right? Well, there’s more to me than meets the eye! Not only do I enjoy watching fluffy ducks by the water’s edge, but I’ve found so much inspiration in observing their graceful movements (there's no other word to describe them), how they land with such perfect precision. Those feathery beauties, especially when in flight, have given me inspiration for so many new ballet routines! I believe it’s those moments of everyday inspiration that are often the best kind, and I’m so glad I have wildlife around to feed my artistic spirit!

That brings us to the end of this post. What’s next for the pink-tutu-loving, travel-obsessed blogger? I’ll tell you all about it tomorrow! And remember: if you’ve never thought about wearing a pink tutu, don’t be shy! Take a chance and find your inner ballerina. I guarantee you’ll have the most fabulous time, especially if it involves a trip to the most beautiful spots of the UK (like a very secret Derbyshire, where pink tulle meets wild beauty).

Until then, twirl on!

XOXO,

Emma
