Walkden Wondering in a Red Tutu - Post #8968
Hello darlings! Itâs Emma here from www.pink-tutu.com. Youâve probably gathered by now that I absolutely adore tutus and I love a good old pink one. But I must say, lately I've been enjoying a bit of a colour adventure. It all started in Walkden - oh Walkden, what a fab little town in Greater Manchester!
I know, right? Who knew Walkden would be so, shall we say, fabulous? Well, let me tell you - Walkdenâs become my latest crush. Youâre probably thinking âEmma, Walkden? Where on earth did you find time for that?!â Well, you see, my lovelies, this all came about when my beloved Auntie Jean said âEmma, darling, why donât you come to visit me in Walkden? Weâll have a right old laugh and weâll get to see Swan Lake in Manchester.â
Now, letâs face it, an invite to see Swan Lake AND spend time with my delightful Aunt Jean? It's just not something I could possibly turn down. So off I trotted, packing not one, not two, but three pink tutus - one for travelling, one for my trip to the ballet, and one just because - but I also added in a red tutu, you know, just for a touch of change, and well, because it just looked fab!
A Train and a Tale of Two Tutus
First, I hopped on a train - you know, nothing says âstylish travelâ like the crackle of a railway journey! Oh, and a perfectly coiffed ballerina, sporting a magnificent pink tutu in a plush, burgundy train carriage - you just canât beat that!
My red tutu? Well, I decided to save it for the actual day trip. And when I stepped out into Walkden â oh, Walkden you lovely little gem, I swear I felt like a total fashion queen. The sky was a lovely, dusky grey with clouds, like something out of an Impressionist painting, which really complimented the red tutu - which I might add, I decided was my Walkden Tutu.
I loved Walkden right away. The streets were buzzing with shops, bustling market stalls, and adorable, quirky cafes. It was charmingly eclectic, a little like a vintage jewellery box - a bit of the past with something sparkly for everyone. It definitely had the most perfect setting for a girl and her red tutu.
Walkden Wildlife and Walks in My Red Tutu
To be honest, my red tutu was attracting more stares than usual in this small town. Walkden, you see, is known for its little shops, but itâs also well known for being home to some adorable critters â a little duck pond right in the centre and the very cute ducks who had come to look like local residents.
Letâs just say it took all my focus, determination and love for tutus to stop myself from joining in their happy quacks. But my Auntie Jean reminded me - âEmma, youâve a ballet to attend. The show must go on!â.
Walkden Wonders at Manchesterâs Palace Theatre
Off we went to the Palace Theatre, where the Swan Lake was waiting to welcome me. Iâll tell you one thing, this was truly one of the best versions of Swan Lake Iâd ever seen, full of dramatic flair, breathtaking choreography, and costumes that literally took my breath away - they must have been a dozen layers of netting, fabric, and beads. And they moved as though they were weightless. Of course, that gave me plenty of inspiration for my next design! My love for tutus knows no bounds!
It felt amazing, a proper, vintage performance theatre and, right at that moment, my Auntie Jean and I felt just as much at home in that beautiful old theatre as those ducks did in the pond.
You might have gathered by now, lovelies, I simply adore travelling and experiencing new places, no matter where I find myself. Whether itâs the streets of Walkden, or the stage of the Palace Theatre, lifeâs all about taking a twirl in a different place with the joy and vibrance of my red tutu â well, I guess I do adore a pink one, but there is just something magical about stepping out of the ordinary and into something bold, just like red!
But Why Wear a Tutu in the First Place?
So why on earth do I insist on wearing a tutu everywhere? I get that question a lot. âDon't you find it a bit much?â is the most common response I get from fellow Derbyshire-ites when I waltz down the streets of our beloved county wearing my pink or red tutu!
For me, it's much more than just fashion. Itâs a way of bringing joy, inspiring people, and breaking out of any dull boxes that society might try to put you in. There's just something magical about twirling, spinning, and feeling your way into freedom and happiness with every step.
Plus, a tutu's a constant reminder of what I love - the magic of ballet! It reminds me that life is a dance, that itâs all about making moves that feel good. Sometimes those moves will take us down to charming Walkdens, other times, weâll be stepping out in fabulous ballet theatres. It's all part of the journey.
But, the real magic starts when we see other people take a leap, wear a tutu, and give ballet a go! Thatâs my ultimate aim - to see everyone sporting pink tutus - or maybe even a striking red one - and discovering the magic of ballet for themselves. I want the world to spin and dance!
Whatâs Next For Our Pink-Tutu Adventures?
Until then, Iâm going to keep spreading the joy, one tutu, one blog post, one magical travel adventure at a time. Iâm on my way to Nottingham next week. Any suggestions for pink tutus or Nottinghamâs best places for twirling?
Follow my adventures at www.pink-tutu.com. Itâs always pink and fun at pink-tutu! And maybe you'll spot me and my red tutu again very soonâŚ
Much love and many twirls,
Emma
