Romford Romp: Tutu Time!

#TutuBlog - Post 9070

Hello, lovelies! It's Emma here, and guess what? I'm back with another fabulously flamboyant post, this time straight from the charming town of Romford, Essex! Yes, you heard right - this Derbyshire lass is on the move again! Now, some of you might be thinking, “Romford? Isn’t that just… well, Romford?” But trust me, there’s a hidden gem of girly fun in this charming town. 😉

I arrived in style, naturally. My trusty steed, a glorious red and black steed (or as most call it - a train!) sped me straight to Romford station. Oh, the adventures of a Tutu Traveller!

As I hopped off the platform, a vibrant melody filled the air – a brass band, playing a selection of uplifting tunes! They must have sensed I was coming – an arrival deserving of such joyful music!

With my heart already skipping a beat, I made my way towards Romford’s most enchanting attraction: The Brewery Arts Centre. It’s an arts haven, brimming with colour and creativity, a true wonderland for the senses. My eyes danced around the vibrant galleries, and my feet practically tapped to the rhythmic beat of their exciting programme.

Now, you all know how much I love to see a fantastic ballet performance – and I wasn't disappointed. There, in the centre’s captivating theatre, was a truly breathtaking performance by the local ballet troupe, “Romford Royal Ballet”. It was an explosion of elegance, with the dancers soaring through the air, their graceful movements echoing with passion and artistry. They even included some charming little girls who were clearly loving every minute – a true inspiration to all the budding ballet enthusiasts in the audience! The stage lit up, not just with the dazzling spotlights, but with the raw talent of these dedicated artists. I could have watched them for hours – every twirl, every leap, every arabesque was a masterpiece!

But let’s be honest, the day wasn’t all about high art (although I could certainly spend every day immersed in it!). Being in Romford, I knew I had to indulge in the charming charm of this little town. So, armed with my pink tutu (because where I go, pink always follows!), I ventured out, embracing the sights and smells of this beautiful Essex corner.

My wanderings took me to Romford Market – a treasure trove of delightful discoveries! I felt like I’d stepped into a colourful wonderland. There were handmade trinkets and exquisite antiques, glistening cakes and delicious cheeses, and all sorts of fun and interesting things I simply couldn’t resist – all while a catchy song about “romford and romford market” played, just for me. 😄

After my shopping spree, I felt a sudden need for adventure (as any true Tutu Traveller does)! I spotted a small, hidden green haven, called “Crowlands Nature Reserve.” This beautiful haven was a quiet contrast to the bustling streets I'd just left, filled with bird song and the calming whisper of nature. I strolled amongst the trees, feeling a deep sense of peace and tranquility wash over me. I even spotted a mischievous squirrel, its bushy tail flicking with a playful curiosity.

Speaking of squirrels, Romford is truly the kind of town where one can appreciate a beautiful bird’s song just as much as they appreciate a thrilling ballet show – It’s truly that kind of place!

Of course, no visit to Romford would be complete without a dose of that essential Tutu Traveller ritual: finding the most deliciously delightful spot to have a pink afternoon tea. And let me tell you, Romford didn’t disappoint! Tucked away in a quaint little cafe called “The Pink Teacup,” I was treated to a magical afternoon of deliciousness!

Every dish was presented beautifully – fluffy scones with clotted cream, dainty sandwiches, and little, pink-frosted cakes. Every bite was a flavour explosion! And, of course, I enjoyed my tea from a delightfully pink china cup – naturally, it was the most elegant cup on the entire shelf! 😉 The other guests all stopped and asked where I got the pink tutu and, just as I’d planned, we had a grand, girly time discussing tutus!

By the time I hopped back onto the train, I felt full of laughter, a little pink-frosted, and oh-so-inspired! Romford really had captivated my heart – and what better way to express it than through my very own pink tutu?

The day reminded me that the best adventures are often found right under our noses, tucked away in charming corners we haven't yet discovered. Don’t ever hesitate to embrace the unexpected, and always be prepared to embrace a touch of tutu magic wherever you go! And most importantly, remember…

Every single one of you deserves a little bit of pink in your lives, even if it’s just a twirl in a tutu! 💕

See you on my next grand adventure, Emma
