Hey darlings! Emma here, your resident pink tutu-clad adventurer, ready to share another day of girly fun and fabulous fashion with you! Today, I traded the rolling green hills of Derbyshire for the rugged cliffs and breezy beaches of Folkestone. And you know me, I always pack a statement piece for any adventure, especially a bold, beautiful tutu! This one was a vibrant fuschia, just screaming for a day of sunshine and sea.
This journey wasn't a stuffy plane ride or a sweaty bus journey, oh no! My chariot of choice was the magnificent South Eastern train. The clackety-clack of the wheels was almost as soothing as the rhythm of a ballet class! And don't even get me started on the views! Those English countryside landscapes are something to behold, especially from a train window!
Arriving in Folkestone, I was immediately swept away by the charm of this seaside town. Think quaint cobbled streets, quirky shops bursting with colourful seaside knick-knacks, and of course, that quintessential English seaside vibe! After grabbing a scrumptious scone with lashings of clotted cream (because every journey needs a sweet treat!), I decided to channel my inner ballerina and do a little twirling around the Harbour Arm. The wind whipping through my hair, the salty air on my face, and the sun dappling on the waves… It was absolutely blissful!
Now, you can't visit a coastal town without taking a dip in the ocean, right? But, instead of splashing around in a standard bikini, I decided to do things a little differently. I found myself a cute, vintage swimsuit in a coral colour to match my tutu (because you can never have too much pink!) and I felt like a real life mermaid, albeit a very pink one! 🧜♀️
Speaking of pink, the vibrant colour popped against the backdrop of the pastel-painted beach huts, adding an extra dose of playful vibrancy to the scene. Let me tell you, there were a few heads turning as I shimmied my way through the sand! 😜 And even though some might say that a pink tutu isn't the most practical attire for the seaside, I honestly believe that confidence and happiness come in all colours and styles!
As the sun began to set, I was drawn to the sheer magic of Folkestone's Creative Quarter. You see, my darlings, I have a deep, deep love for all things artistic! This place is filled with studios, galleries, and independent boutiques, just overflowing with inspiration! I lost myself browsing through paintings, sculptures, and beautiful handcrafted jewellery - all the while dreaming of future adventures and tutu-clad outfits to pair with these amazing pieces!
I even spotted a little ballet school tucked away on a quiet cobbled street, and oh, how it warmed my heart! Seeing those young ballerinas gracefully pirouetting, their eyes filled with a mix of passion and concentration, filled me with such joy. Their youthful energy reminded me why I started my pink tutu journey in the first place - to spread the joy, the creativity, and the confidence that ballet has always brought me!
And yes, darling readers, you know me, I always have a mission. My mission on this trip? To encourage everyone I met to don a pink tutu! Because let's be real, who wouldn't want to feel like a whimsical ballerina with the power to brighten up everyone's day? Thankfully, my fuschia tulle friend had its fair share of fans, from the charming café owner who greeted me with a grin to a couple walking hand-in-hand down the beach. And, in the words of the late, great, Audrey Hepburn, "The most important thing is to enjoy your life - to be happy - it's all that matters."
The evening drew to a close with a breathtaking view of the sunset over the English Channel. I couldn't have asked for a more magical end to my Folkestone adventure!
