Loughborough Calling! (TutuBlog Post #9403) 🩰🍊

Hello my darlings! It’s your favourite tutu-wearing, pink-loving, ballet-obsessed blogger, Emma, back with another fabulous adventure. Today, I'm whisking you all away to the beautiful town of Loughborough, where the air itself seems to hum with a melody of twirls and leaps!

Loughborough is just a hop, skip, and a little twirl away from my home in Derbyshire. I love taking the train for short trips like this - the gentle rocking, the panoramic countryside views, and the opportunity for people-watching! You'd be surprised how many cute outfits I’ve spotted from my train window – some real tutu inspiration, even if I say so myself.

This time, however, I’m feeling a little extra bold. Today's outfit is not a whisper of pink, but a full-on explosion of sunshine: a bright, orange tutu. Think the colour of a ripe peach, with a smattering of gold sequins to add a touch of glam. Paired with a flowing, white top that swirls with every movement, I feel like a vision of playful energy. My pink, quilted bag and white ankle boots add just the right amount of polished edge, so it’s definitely not a look for the faint of heart!

And why such a bright statement? Well, darling, today is a special day. Today, Loughborough is hosting the renowned Royal Ballet, and my very favourite piece – Giselle. I've been waiting for this performance since I first saw a preview in London a few months ago! I simply couldn't miss it.

Loughborough, you see, is steeped in history. It’s home to Loughborough University, with its impressive sports facilities and a fascinating museum dedicated to local heritage. There’s something truly enchanting about the energy here, the blend of tradition and innovation, echoing the spirit of ballet itself.

And, naturally, the ballet was just as beautiful as I imagined! Giselle is a classic for a reason. The intricate footwork, the heart-wrenching drama, the breathtaking beauty… it had me on the edge of my seat, mesmerized, completely swept away.

Afterwards, I couldn't resist taking a walk around the charming streets. Loughborough is known for its pretty market square, full of independent shops and cafes. There's something delightful about browsing through antique shops, picking up unique treasures, and then grabbing a delicious cappuccino in a quirky little cafe – it feels like a secret world, brimming with potential for inspiration and creativity.

My wanderings also took me past a lovely wildlife sanctuary, where I spent a happy hour admiring ducks, swans, and a few very cheeky squirrels. Wildlife always makes my heart sing - those curious creatures always remind me of the beauty and wonder found in the simplest of things.

So, my dears, today's adventure was another perfect blend of artistry and whimsy. Loughborough charmed me with its beauty, its warmth, and its captivating spirit. The performance left me with a lingering glow of enchantment, and the entire experience reaffirmed my belief in the magic that can be found when you open your mind, let go of any reservations, and embrace a little bit of ballet into your life.

Speaking of embracing ballet, let's talk tutus! I truly believe that everyone should experience the joy of a twirl in a tutu. Don’t let anyone tell you it’s not for you – the world needs more pink-hued smiles and twirling energy! Remember, even a simple, basic tutu, worn with confidence, can transform an ordinary day into a celebration of grace and joy.

Stay fabulous, my darlings! Don’t forget to follow me on my Instagram @emmathetutu for daily dose of ballerina life and tutu inspiration. And always, always remember to twirl!

With love,
