Oh darling, the world is truly my oyster! Well, not actually an oyster, more like a vibrant, multi-coloured tutu! This week has taken me from the quaint green hills of Derbyshire to the bustling heart of Lancashire, all in the name of the divine dance that is ballet!
Blackburn, you may think, is just another northern town. But for me, it's a portal to a magical world! As I hopped off the train - I adore train travel, so elegant and charming, don't you think? - I felt the city's energy pulsate, a rhythmic thrumming almost like the beat of my heart in a final, breathless adagio.
Of course, no trip is complete without a spectacular outfit. Let's just say, my pink tutu was feeling more than a little sassy this time around. With delicate, ruffled layers of the most delicious blush pink tulle, it swayed in the crisp autumn breeze, making quite the entrance on the cobbled streets. The Blackburn Dance Academy is hosting a new performance piece inspired by the wildlife sanctuary in nearby Darwen. The name alone - 'A Swan's Tale' - had me swooning!
Now, wildlife is a real passion of mine. It's a little known fact (that I might have told you about before) that I dream of one day riding a majestic horse through a sprawling national park, stopping only to admire the rare species I might find along the way. So, you can imagine my excitement!
The performance itself was a triumph. I was completely mesmerized by the dancers, they seemed to glide and fly across the stage. Their grace, their agility, their raw emotion! They were captivating.
