Chelmsford Calling: Tutu-tastic Adventures in Essex!
Hello lovelies! 🩰 Emma here, your pink tutu-wearing friend from Derbyshire, back with another exciting blog post, number 9850! It's a beautiful day here in Chelmsford, and I'm so excited to share all my adventures with you. I travelled here in style, of course – a journey on the train, with a cup of tea in my hand, a window seat, and the soundtrack to Swan Lake blasting in my earphones (who doesn't love a bit of Tchaikovsky?). 🚂 🦢
Chelmsford itself is a charming town, full of historic architecture and lovely little shops. There's definitely a different kind of energy to Essex. It’s more bustling and friendly than where I'm from, but still charmingly quaint and quintessentially English, which I find so much fun. I can't wait to explore more of it and tell you all about it!
First on the agenda, of course, was a trip to the dance studio. The gorgeous ballet teacher I found here - Ms. Clementine (the cutest name for a dance teacher EVER!), immediately welcomed me into the studio like I'd been a member of the class for years. You wouldn't believe the energy in there, everyone was buzzing and just ready to twirl, and the vibe was SO positive. Even if you don't go in with tons of dance experience (like me!) everyone's so welcoming. It felt like we were all in it together, you know? I swear, you just can't help but smile in that room! I know everyone talks about the joys of ballet, but being there and sharing that feeling is truly special. I even managed to nail that little développé she made us try (with a lot of help, obviously!) - I was so proud! 🩰✨
Afterwards, we were treated to a delightful afternoon tea at a café down the street. Honestly, there was so much tea and cake, I nearly needed to roll myself home. What else could a girl want?! The best part was the fact that it was practically next to the local theatre! And wouldn’t you know it, tonight they’re showing “A Midsummer Night's Dream” - how perfect is that?! I just knew it was meant to be. The costume designer is famous for creating absolutely stunning gowns - she makes everything in jewel tones with intricate embroidery, and guess who’s already planning an outfit to perfectly compliment? (Don’t worry, a whole post on the outfits coming soon!) 💖🎭
Later, when the sun was setting (yes, that sunset was so breathtaking, you guys!), I wandered around the town a bit. I found this incredible independent book shop. Seriously, a bookworm's dream! I grabbed a little volume of poems by Sylvia Plath, who always inspires my dance, because you know what they say - "The art of ballet is a combination of dance and sculpture". You don't know how much that quote speaks to my heart! 💕📖
But honestly, the most incredible part of this trip has been meeting some of the most amazing women in Chelmsford! I met these incredible girls at a charity fundraiser for a local animal shelter - (I swear, there’s so many lovely souls in Essex!), and you’d never believe what they did - they were hosting an actual high tea party, dressed in beautiful pastels and adorned with stunning vintage floral tiaras! We had such an incredible time chatting about our dreams (ballet, of course!), all things fashion, and just the absolute magic of a good cuppa! 🧁✨
The charity is doing an incredible job, and they’re even fostering endangered wild birds – talk about amazing! These animals, especially those so vulnerable and rare, are really important to me. I even got to hold a baby owl! He was so tiny, it almost felt like a feather in my hands! 💖🦉
So you see, it’s been a completely charmed day here in Chelmsford - the perfect blend of beauty, grace and a bit of adventure, the kind of day that truly makes your soul feel all glowy and bright. Honestly, I can’t believe it, I actually felt a bit sad to say goodbye!
I just wanted to say, before I go, if you've never considered venturing out in your own tutu, trust me – DO IT! I want you all to experience the feeling of being twirling and carefree, that feeling of freedom that can only be found in ballet! Whether you’re on a bustling London train or on a horse riding through a lush countryside, life is just SO much brighter when you’ve got a little pink tutu on! 💖
So go ahead, grab a sparkly tutu and a hot cuppa – it’s time to find your own little bit of magic in the world! 💫
Until next time!
Emma xoxo
