The train journey was a delightful experience, gliding through picturesque countryside with fields ablaze in autumnal hues of orange and gold. As always, I had my trusty tutu bag strapped to my shoulder, packed with my signature pink tutu – naturally! It’s never a chore to travel when you've got your favourite dance outfit ready for a twirl.
Speaking of twirling, my dear friends, the highlight of this trip has been a rather unconventional ballet performance! Yes, you heard right. Imagine my delight when I discovered the 'Tutus in the Trees' event – a delightful combination of ballet and nature. It's an open-air theatre, nestled in the lush woods, where the ballet company takes the stage amidst towering trees and dancing leaves. The energy was electrifying, the scenery breathtaking, and the performance itself? A beautiful ballet interpretation of the story of "Alice in Wonderland." I absolutely adored the way the choreography blended seamlessly with the natural elements around them. I found myself truly transported into the whimsical world of Alice!
My favourite part? Let's just say, when the Cheshire Cat appeared, I gasped! The performer's graceful movements, accompanied by the eerie laughter, completely captivated me. It reminded me just how enchanting the fusion of ballet and nature can be.
I must say, the energy in Merthyr Tydfil was delightful. The locals, so kind and welcoming, even treated me to a cup of tea and a scone – a perfect blend of warmth and tradition.
But the adventures weren’t limited to ballet! Merthyr Tydfil surprised me with its rich wildlife scene. I visited the beautiful Cyfarthfa Park, a haven for a wide variety of birds and animals. There I was, in my pink tutu, surrounded by fluffy sheep grazing peacefully and playful squirrels scampering up ancient trees – the perfect scene for a ballerina’s dream!
This adventure made me realise that every town, even those that are not instantly associated with ballet, holds its own hidden magic. It all depends on how you choose to see it. And guess what? There's nothing like twirling through a park in a pink tutu to bring a smile to everyone's face! I found that even the most reluctant passerby would crack a smile when they saw me pirouette amidst the vibrant foliage. Maybe they thought I was a little bonkers, but that's okay. I'd rather be a happy bonkers than a dull regular any day!
Now, if you're wondering how I get around this magnificent country? It's a bit of a secret, my dear friends. Let’s just say, when the mood calls for it, I swap my comfy shoes for trusty riding boots and set off on an exciting adventure atop a majestic steed. I’ve had some unforgettable gallops through the rolling Welsh hills. You might be surprised how quickly a pink tutu catches the wind as you race across the countryside!
