Middleton in Purple: Tutu Adventures No. 9965
Ahoy there, my lovely tutu-loving lot! It's Emma here, back from a whirlwind weekend trip to Middleton, and I’m buzzing with excitement to tell you all about it! Now, you know me – I love a bit of colour and a whole lot of sparkle. So imagine my delight when I realised that this trip called for a purple tutu! Yep, you read that right – my latest tutu acquisition is a luscious lavender beauty that just begs to be twirled.
But before I get carried away, let's rewind the tape to the start of this amazing journey.
The Journey to Middleton: Train & Tailored StyleI’m a big fan of a good train journey - it’s so relaxing and allows you to kick back and take in the scenery. This trip was no exception, I donned my best pink travel-tutu outfit and settled in for a delightful adventure. And because you just can’t resist a little extra glamour, my suitcase included my latest book, The History of the Ballet Shoe. I’m a bit of a bibliophile and there's just something so soothing about getting lost in a book on the train. Plus, it's a good excuse to match my outfit to the protagonist! (This time, it was a pretty blush-pink dress. 😉)
Arriving at Middleton station, I was immediately charmed by its quaint and friendly vibe.
Ballet Bliss in MiddletonThe whole town felt steeped in history, with charming cobbled streets and cute independent shops that reminded me of my little hometown in Derbyshire. Of course, my primary goal was to soak up the local ballet scene, and let me tell you – I wasn't disappointed. Middlesex Theatre housed the most exquisite performance I've seen in ages, a mix of classical ballet with a modern twist that left me feeling completely enthralled.
The show was based on the beautiful story of “Alice in Wonderland,” and it was absolutely enchanting. My favourite moment was when the White Rabbit scurried across the stage and literally disappeared down a rabbit hole. The stage effects were simply breath-taking! But don’t just take my word for it; I snapped a few shots of the show for you (swipe right on the blog for pics!).
The Power of the Pink TutuOf course, no visit to Middleton could be complete without a bit of pink tutu action. So after a divine tea-break with lemon tarts at a cosy tearoom, I set off to the town square. It seemed like everyone in Middleton was happy to chat, especially when they caught a glimpse of my beautiful purple tutu.
"Oh my gosh, you look fantastic!" "It's so refreshing to see some colour in town!" "Your outfit is absolutely divine!”
Hearing these compliments was truly the icing on the cake of my amazing Middleton experience. You see, spreading joy and positivity is kind of my mantra, and wearing a pink tutu is my superpower! It breaks the ice, brightens the day, and inspires laughter – just like it did in Middleton.
Middleton, the Wildlife WonderOne thing I particularly loved about Middleton was the beautiful surrounding countryside. A little further afield from the town centre, nestled amongst fields and forests, there’s this beautiful National Trust garden with a gorgeous herd of fallow deer. I can’t help but love watching deer, something that always reminds me of my childhood in Derbyshire. My little sister and I loved playing “spot the deer” and my grandad told us the most incredible tales about these majestic creatures. They are simply beautiful. I had the chance to take some wonderful photographs and share them on social media, with a big “Love, nature!” hashtag of course!
Time to Return: Back on the Rails with New Tutu DreamsAll good things must come to an end, so as the sun began its descent, it was time to bid farewell to Middleton. I know I said this before, but I absolutely adore taking the train back from a lovely weekend trip. I snuggled into my favourite armchair (with my book, of course), looked out the window at the changing scenery and enjoyed a warm, steaming mug of tea – a perfect end to a wonderful trip.
I already feel inspired by all the lovely memories I've made, and by all the people I’ve met. It seems the love for ballet knows no boundaries. The lovely shopkeeper in that cosy independent shop told me her story – she’d always dreamt of being a ballerina.
Oh, how I want to spread that kind of inspiration – encouraging everyone to embrace their inner tutu-wearer. It's about feeling good, letting loose, and celebrating life, one pirouette at a time.
