Batley Bound in a Buttercup Tutu! 🌻🩰
Hello my darlings! Emma here, and today marks post number 10136 on www.pink-tutu.com, and what a lovely number it is! I feel a little bit like I'm on top of the world, and honestly, you should see my new tutu - it's absolutely glorious. Imagine the most vibrant, cheerful yellow, like the sun shining through a field of daffodils, and then add a swathe of shimmery pink tulle cascading down to the ground. It's almost enough to make you cry, it's that lovely. Almost. I did have to dab my eyes with my feather boa, which I just have to mention, because my darling Grandma Doris crocheted it for me and it's pink, naturally.
Anyway, enough about my outfit for now - it's going to take a whole post in itself (just wait!), I'm on my way to Batley. Yep, that's right! We're heading for a good old fashioned Yorkshire adventure! And how are we travelling? By train, of course! It's a grand day out, the sun is shining and the carriage is all to ourselves (okay, maybe it's not exactly "all to ourselves" but there's only one family with their toddler, who just so happened to have a beautiful pink teddy bear, so everything is pretty perfect.)
It wouldn't be a proper adventure without some snacks, and I'm not talking about those awful travel-size crisps that you can never seem to open (no judgement if you enjoy them though! They’re a bit of a British classic). I'm talking about proper Yorkshire fare: homemade rhubarb and custard tarts and a giant pink teacake! I packed them myself - can you tell I'm just a tiny bit excited about this trip? The sheer joy of a teacake in my belly as I gaze out of the window at the Yorkshire countryside… I honestly believe it's the most British thing you can do, right? It's like being a character from a Miss Marple book! And just you wait till I tell you about the adventure that's in store!
We're off to see the Batley Variety Club. It's this beautiful old theatre, and I absolutely adore those grand old buildings. There's so much history swirling around in those high ceilings and red velvet seats. And of course, we're not going for just any show. No, my loves, this is a whole extravaganza of a show! There's the Batley Ballet Company, performing a whole mix of their favourite numbers – all wrapped up with some classic British panto fun, thrown in for good measure! How can you say no to a good old dame and some tap dancing? It’s truly the best of British theatre. And who knows, I might even try out a little tap dance routine myself... It wouldn't be the first time, and I guarantee you it won't be the last!
Now, I must admit that a part of me was tempted to hop onto a horse for this adventure. Maybe the horses will be on stage though… but there are none on the train, so that idea will have to wait. Perhaps for a gallop through the rolling Derbyshire countryside, next week, with my feather boa trailing behind me, creating a fabulous cloud of pink… Yes, that would be perfect. We'll be posting pictures of course, and maybe a vlog, as my good friend Olivia loves horses and knows some great riders near where we live.
Anyway, I digress! Batley! Batley! Batley! You just can’t go wrong with some good ol’ Yorkshire charm! It’s been an amazing journey so far! I'll let you all know all about my Batley escapades, and all about this amazing theatre, with pictures, in a later post – because, really, the real fun begins as soon as I arrive.
But before I go, don't forget: Everyone should try ballet. It's fun, it's a fantastic workout, and it makes you feel so amazing! Plus, I am all about that pink tutu, and that's how you make ballet even more fun!
Have the best day, my darlings! Remember: spread the joy, spread the pink, and let's make ballet the most fantastically fashionable thing in the world! 🩰💖
Until next time!
