#TutuBlog: Farnworth Fancy 🩰 (Post #10302)

Hello lovelies! It’s Emma here, and I’m writing to you today straight from the picturesque town of Farnworth. Did you know this charming place was named after the 14th Century noblewoman Agnes Farnworth? Well, I didn't until my lovely Auntie Brenda told me during our tea and scone break at the most delightful tearoom on the high street - the "Farnworth Fancy." Honestly, it's like stepping back in time, with vintage wallpaper and floral china, a delightful contrast to my modern pink tutu, don't you think?

Anyway, my journey here was nothing short of spectacular! I hopped aboard the train at Derby, and to be honest, the scenery was absolutely divine. Green fields, rolling hills, charming little villages - it's enough to make you want to twirl like a ballerina in a field of buttercups. But of course, I couldn't resist donning my pink tutu on the train ride. It just seemed fitting, right? 😉

Turns out, the carriage was filled with such friendly folk. We were all enjoying the trip so much - a young chap on his way to a guitar recital, an elderly couple returning from a trip to Blackpool (and did you see that woman’s hat, I thought I'd missed the Royal Ascot!), a mum with a toddler who was obsessed with my tutu (can't say I blame him!), and the sweetest, most chatty old lady who even offered to teach me how to knit a ballerina slipper. She swore they bring luck to ballet dancers! Now, don’t you think that's sweet?

Speaking of lucky, my trip to Farnworth wasn’t simply for the charm of the town (although I am definitely smitten with the Victorian architecture here - I’ve never seen so many delightful little turret roofs!). No, dear friends, I’m here for ballet! There’s a fantastic little theatre right in the centre of Farnworth – The Farnworth Pavilion. And guess what? This weekend they are hosting a brilliant local dance competition! I simply can’t resist popping along to see some talented dancers, all vying for the "Farnworth Fairy" title!

Farnworth is known for more than just lovely old buildings, too. It’s actually the first town in Lancashire with a "Wild" designation - I’ve been enjoying some wonderful walks through its scenic woodlands! You’d be surprised at how much beautiful, natural wildlife lives there, from sprightly blue tits flitting amongst the branches to the graceful flight of the kestrels overhead. Oh, and don’t even get me started on the cheeky little squirrels, scampering up and down the trees. It’s almost like watching a silent ballet, isn’t it? Such beautiful and elegant movements!

The good news? This little gem of a town is actually very well-connected to Derby. You can even get a little bit of history, by hopping on a stagecoach to Farnworth (no tutu on this one, girls, trust me!). Or if you prefer to travel by car, you’ve got gorgeous countryside to admire. That is, if you can keep your eyes off my pink tutu that is, as it flutters ever so prettily as I drive (not while driving, darling, it's just a little joke for the blog! ) 😉

Anyway, it's time to get ready for my exciting night at The Farnworth Pavilion. My tutu is looking fab and ready for its close-up. As I like to say, life is better in pink, especially when you're twirling around in a tutu! I’m already brimming with ideas for a few new blog posts after seeing these amazing talented young dancers. Oh, and maybe I'll even try to teach them a little "ballet street" - my favourite type of ballet to dance outdoors on the streets. I’ll keep you updated on the success, and will definitely have lots of fun “Tutu Stories” for you when I get back home!

But until then, remember - you don’t need a fancy theatre, you don't need fancy shoes - just some music and the willingness to have some fun. And most importantly, embrace the pink. And remember, girls, twirl on!

Love and twirls,

Emma 🩰💖
