Whitley Bay: A Tutu-ful Whirlwind (Blog Post #10769)

Hello my darling dancers and tutu-loving friends! It's Emma here, ready to whisk you away on another pink and twirling adventure! Today's journey takes us to the charming coastal town of Whitley Bay, a little slice of seaside heaven right on the North Sea coast.

Now, you might be thinking, “Emma, why Whitley Bay?” Well, I can't help but be drawn to places that haven't lost their unique charm. This place, nestled amidst charming Victorian architecture and golden beaches, definitely ticked all the boxes! And let's face it, a bit of sea air always does wonders for the soul (and, I believe, the pliĂ©s too!)

My journey started in Derbyshire, where I was practicing some fiery fouettĂ©s at my local dance school (yes, even on a December morning!) Then, I hopped on a charming little train, windows steamed up and filled with the chatter of fellow travellers, headed for the north east coast. And speaking of trains, did you know that I’ve fallen in love with travelling by train lately? There's just something romantic about hurtling through the countryside, watching the scenery shift like a magic kaleidoscope. It feels so much more freeing than a plane, don’t you think?

Oh, and the wildlife! On my journey north, I spotted a cheeky little squirrel scampering across the railway lines – always a good sign, a tiny touch of magic before reaching my destination. And just outside Whitley Bay, I couldn’t resist taking a detour to a quaint little village and found myself surrounded by flocks of dazzling starlings. Just imagine the sheer beauty of those starlings swirling like a ballerina in the evening sky, creating a perfect swirling silhouette – absolutely breathtaking. Nature really knows how to dance, doesn’t it?

Of course, when I arrived in Whitley Bay, it wouldn’t be a proper Emma trip without a delightful dance of some kind! So, I decided to make my way to The Playhouse Whitley Bay, a beautiful historic theatre that seemed to radiate an old-world glamour. Their programme is jam-packed with exciting dance performances, including some amazing tap routines, ballet performances, and a dazzling musical revue, which I must admit, I got quite carried away in, swaying my own little tutu along to the music.

But it’s not just the performance that captivated me. The whole theatre buzzed with excitement. I even found myself chatting to some local dance enthusiasts over a cup of tea, swapping stories and, of course, swapping a few pointe shoe tips – you know, the kind of tips you get when you're really deep in the heart of the dance community!

The day turned into the evening, and the gorgeous setting sun painted the sea a breathtaking shade of orange. So, I decided to find a lovely little spot along the beach, settled myself down in the sand, and just
enjoyed. The crisp, salty air and the rhythmic sound of waves crashing against the shore were just the soundtrack I needed to feel fully relaxed, letting my tutu fly and the thoughts fly out of my head.

Speaking of thoughts
it always makes me so happy to see my lovely readers leaving messages on my blog. It's been so wonderful connecting with all of you! So many amazing messages, filled with inspiration, excitement about your own tutu adventures, and just generally amazing dance positivity! Makes me want to spin a million pirouettes!

And while I'm at it, let's talk about the tutu, my absolute favourite accessory. Today's outfit is, of course, inspired by the vibrant beauty of Whitley Bay, a scarlet red tutu (which was just so dramatic against the turquoise sea, darling!) with a bright pink, silky, ruffled blouse for a touch of that signature Emma charm, and a little straw hat with a huge pink bow to complete the look! My aim is to have everyone out there trying to wear a tutu at least once! Embrace that inner dancer, it’s a wonderful journey of self-expression and grace.

Now, my darling readers, what's next for Emma's adventures? Who knows! The next leg of my journey involves, yes, you guessed it!
horses! Yes, you read that right! Next stop is
well, let's just say it's somewhere where horses gallop free across vast landscapes. (Clue: the colour blue has something to do with it, hehe!) And yes, you can absolutely expect me to wear a pink tutu, no matter the occasion!

Until next time, my lovelies! Happy dancing!

With twirls and a whole lot of love, Emma xxx
