Denton Daze: Tutu Adventures in the North

#TutuBlog Post 10770

Hey gorgeous girlies!

It’s Emma here, reporting live from the charming town of Denton! My latest tutu escapade has taken me northwards, where the wind whispers tales of Yorkshire moors and the air is tinged with the scent of brewing tea. Oh, how I love the north, especially when it’s served up with a healthy dose of pink and a splash of tutus!

This little trip has been all about indulging in my two favourite things – ballet and adventure. My week started off with a delightful jaunt to the theatre. The Royal Ballet, no less, were gracing the stage with Swan Lake and let me tell you, it was just pure magic! My darling, feathered friends, the swans, stole the show. I’m pretty sure I even had a little tear well up in my eye when Odette took flight. Such grace! Such elegance! And all in a beautiful, flowing tutu.

Now, if you’ve been following me for a while, you know that my favourite mode of travel is by train. It's just so romantic, you know? Watching the world rush past my window as I settle in with a good book, or a delicious cup of tea and a piece of Victoria sponge. Yes, I have a slight addiction to cake, what can I say?

But the journey to Denton took me on a whole new adventure! Instead of hopping on a train, I decided to embrace my inner Wild West and travelled by horse! I've always admired those magnificent creatures and I just knew this was a chance I couldn’t miss. The journey was a bit slower than usual, and there were a few hiccups along the way – my steed decided to nibble on a passing field of daisies, which almost cost me a valuable hour – but it was oh, so exhilarating. Imagine me, hair flowing in the wind, perched atop a noble steed, with my darling pink tutu billowing behind me like a flamenco dancer!

Once I reached the bustling town of Denton, the real adventure began! My lovely friend Alice, a talented dancer I met at a London ballet workshop, was eager to show me all the best hidden gems of her home town. First, we had a spot of afternoon tea, accompanied by some scrumptious scones and jam (always a classic!). Then, we explored the local markets, where I picked up a couple of treasures - a gorgeous hand-painted trinket box with a tiny, pink tutu and a beautiful set of silk flowers, which would be perfect for adorning my latest tutu creation.

Speaking of tutus, my next stop had to be a delightful little shop called “Twirling Threads”. It was filled to the brim with the most divine collection of tutus you’ve ever seen. From classical tulle to vibrant neon, I was lost in a wonderland of dancing dreams! I snagged a magnificent, midnight-blue tulle tutu, complete with sparkling sequin details that could outshine a thousand stars! It will look fabulous paired with my favourite pair of silver ballet pumps, if I do say so myself.

One thing I’ve realised about my trips is that no adventure is complete without indulging in a local dance class. So, off we went to a little dance studio tucked away in a quiet backstreet. The class was filled with a bunch of delightful local dancers, all ages and skill levels, eager to learn and share their passion for the art. The instructor, a vibrant, petite woman with a heart of gold, had us giggling with her quick wit and playful dance moves. The studio was small but oh so cosy, with walls plastered with inspirational dance quotes and shelves overflowing with tutus and dancing shoes. We learnt a fun new ballet routine that had us swirling and twirling, I even managed to execute a perfect pirouette!

After class, Alice and I were both feeling quite peckish so we scampered over to the most adorable little bakery on the corner, where they served the best pink-frosted cupcakes you’ve ever tasted. I’m pretty sure I could have eaten my weight in those delicious treats. Don’t worry, I made sure to have a hearty helping of leafy greens and a whole jug of fresh-squeezed juice later on to even things out!

In the evening, I made a pit-stop at a charming local bar and treated myself to a little taste of their cocktail menu, with its delightful names like “Dancing Queen” and “The Tutu Twirl.” The "Dancing Queen" - a delicious concoction of fresh fruit and sparkling wine - won me over in no time. It’s the perfect way to end a day of tutu-tastic adventures.

Overall, Denton proved to be a hidden gem. The friendly faces, the charming cobbled streets, and the bustling market were delightful, but what I really fell in love with was the strong sense of community spirit. People really do care about their town here, and that sense of warmth was truly infectious.

Before I sign off, I just have one thing to say: Denton, you have stolen my heart!

Now, go forth, my dearest Tutu-loving followers, and explore! Embrace every adventure with the same infectious enthusiasm that Denton embraced me. And don’t forget, a little pink and a bit of tutu magic can truly change the world!

Yours in pink,

Emma.
