This is post number 10977 on my daily adventure at www.pink-tutu.com – a testament to my sheer dedication to spreading the pink tutu love! ? And today's journey is a particularly special one – a whimsical trip through the vibrant streets of Leith, Scotland!
It's funny, you know? My trip was born from a spontaneous idea. My darling granny, who loves a bit of whimsy (and definitely understands the magic of a pink tutu!), had a sudden urge for a fish supper in Leith. Who could refuse? Certainly not me, with a chance to explore a new town and perhaps stumble across a charming, vintage tutu shop!
And let's be honest, there's nothing more romantic than a journey by train, particularly with a big pink tulle skirt rustling about your legs. I couldn't resist putting on my brand new, hot pink, German-style tutu. Let me tell you, this tutu is EVERYTHING! It has an extravagant double layer, with an elegant peplum skirt on top and the fullest, most majestic skirt beneath! The perfect fit for twirling through the Scottish air! ✨
We arrived in Leith and immediately started a mini ballet tour – what else is a ballet dancer to do, right? First stop, the majestic Leith Theatre. Imagine this – a stunning Edwardian era building, with stunning ornate details that could have come straight out of a fairytale! This is the sort of setting a ballerina dreams about, with a history oozing out of every brick and crevice. And guess what? They had a show on - "A Midsummer Night's Dream"! Talk about magical. I might just pop back tonight for another performance. ?
Then, a delicious, fish and chip lunch at a delightful local pub (they even had a 'Ballet Special' - chips and mushy peas with a generous sprinkling of pink Himalayan salt!), and then, on to the adventure of the day - the Leith Links. You have never seen such a wonderful landscape. Rolling hills of vibrant greens, wild flowers dancing in the breeze, and the clear, sparkling water of the Firth of Forth on one side. It felt like being on set for a ballet performance about nature itself. I took a hundred and one pictures.
The Leith Links are famous for their golf courses and I even found myself watching a couple of cheeky seagulls trying to make off with some forgotten golf balls. ⛳️ Of course, it didn’t take long before I pulled out my pink tutu (no matter how impractical) for a photo op with those dramatic Leith Links cliffs and the sweeping water vistas in the background!
For a truly delightful moment, I met a charming gentleman who'd witnessed my impromptu tutu photo shoot. He thought it was quite funny and exclaimed, "Now that's how you appreciate a bit of Scottish scenery! You've got a lot more pizazz than those stuffy golfers!" I’ll admit, it felt rather good. ?
This was definitely one of those days that reminded me why I love exploring – especially when it’s with a pink tutu by my side.
But let’s be honest, darling, this journey wasn’t just about tutus and scenery. It was also about soaking up the local atmosphere and discovering hidden treasures. In a tucked away little shop in Leith, I found the cutest miniature ballet shoe ornament for my ballerina collection. She’s all decked out in pink, of course! ?
Of course, the day wouldn't be complete without a little dance – and let's just say, the streets of Leith saw quite the spontaneous, tutu-clad, twirl-fest! Imagine, a ballerina whirling with glee, amidst the everyday bustle! A gentle reminder for everyone that joy is an act, not just an emotion, and sometimes, it takes a little pink tulle to bring it out. ?
And you know, I always find it amusing how people react to a pink tutu. There’s a universal love for pink tutus that transcends any age or background! It brings people together – for a little laugh, a shared sense of wonder, and maybe even an impromptu photo with a random passer-by. But you know me, I live for it. ?
The day culminated with a delectable dinner in Leith, where the food was delightful and the company even more so! And guess what? One of my new friends even suggested we form a "pink tutu dancing troupe" to bring a touch of whimsical cheer to the local streets! Now, wouldn’t that be the most joyous way to experience Leith? ?♀️
