Hello, my gorgeous lovelies! It's your favourite Derbyshire-born ballerina, Emma, and I'm so excited to be back with another pinktastic blog post! Today, we're whisking ourselves away from the rolling hills and picturesque villages of my childhood and heading to the bustling capital, London, for a dose of tutus and theatre!
Before we dive into all the fun, let me tell you about my outfit for the day. Pink, of course, is the name of the game! My new, and I mean new (just bought this morning!) blush pink tulle tutu with layers and layers of floaty loveliness is taking centre stage, naturally. To add a bit of edge, I've paired it with a crisp white fitted top, some cute white ballet pumps with pink ribbon ties (couldn't resist!) and a fluffy, pink-toned cardigan for those air-conditioned tube journeys.
Getting to London by train always feels like an adventure. There's something magical about watching the scenery blur by, the anticipation building as the train speeds towards the city. But this trip was extra special because, wait for it… I decided to take a horse-drawn carriage from Euston Station to the theatre! I know, right?! It was a touch of old-world glamour and a true fairytale moment. The cobbled streets and the clip-clop of hooves, it was simply delightful.
My mission today was to see "Swan Lake" at the fabulous Royal Opera House, but before I could take in the grace and beauty of the ballet dancers, I had to explore Covent Garden Market! My absolute weakness for artisan cheese, cute homeware and colourful flowers couldn’t be ignored! I just had to have a little wander, browsing the stalls, soaking up the atmosphere and, of course, snapping some pics for Instagram! (Be sure to check out #PinkTutuAdventures!)
Then it was off to the opera house! My heart was practically doing pirouettes in my chest with excitement. And oh my, it was absolutely breathtaking. The artistry, the talent, the sheer passion - it was just sublime. My favourite part? Seeing the swans’ graceful movements and how effortlessly the ballerinas glided across the stage. You know me, I'm a bit of a tutu-obsessed girl, so watching them in their beautiful white tutus just sent my inner ballerina into overdrive.
After the show, I popped into the theatre’s charming café for a hot chocolate, sat next to a beautiful fountain in the centre of the Covent Garden square and did some people-watching. It was just perfect, you know, soaking up the London vibe, taking in all the colourful characters and imagining their stories.
One of the things I love about ballet is that it transcends all boundaries. It's a universal language of emotions, passion, and beauty, and it inspires everyone, regardless of age or background. That's why my goal in life is to get everyone in the world wearing a pink tutu! Maybe a little ambitious, I know, but I have this feeling that I can make it happen.
