Oh my darling Tutu-ettes! It's Emma here, back with another whirl-wind tale from the magical land of tutu-ing!
This week I swapped the rolling hills of Derbyshire for the charming charm of Huyton, a quaint little town that welcomed me with open arms (and some pretty incredible architecture!). You know me, I'm all about finding the perfect tutu-spot in every destination and let me tell you, Huyton did not disappoint.
My arrival in this lovely little town felt straight out of a ballet movie - picture it: me, waltzing through the station in my most exquisite pink tutu, the fabric swirling around me like a cloud of fluffy, ethereal candy floss (seriously, it's the perfect blend of ballerina chic and sweet, playful whimsy). This tutu, oh it was a dream! I’d been waiting ages to bust it out, an American-style number with a swoon-worthy mix of sparkly, voluminous layers.
Now, I must confess, this little beauty wasn't just for show! I was en route to a ballet class at the local dance studio, nestled between a cosy pub and a quaint bakery. Don't judge me, I get my sugar rush in both life AND dance! (Maybe it's a secret dancer secret? ;) ) I just had to slip into this masterpiece, you see, because when I feel my best, my dance game steps up tenfold!
Speaking of dance, let's talk about Huyton's magical ballet scene. I found this hidden gem of a theater, oh darling, just breathtaking! It was a classic old-world theater with velvety red seats and charming stained glass windows. It's the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re starring in your own fairy tale. Of course, I couldn’t resist gracing the stage in a twirl or two. A quick impromptu ballet street performance had the audience oohing and aahing (including a particularly enthusiastic pigeon who just HAD to join in. Pigeon with a knack for ballet? Who knew? I do believe this is what they call fate).
And did I mention my new dance buddy? Well, let's just say a furry friend decided to make himself known! A fluffy little ginger cat wandered onto the stage mid-performance, strutting its stuff in a most graceful manner. We're talking a feline feline, with moves smoother than melted chocolate. Let's just say our little interlude stole the show, a testament to the universal language of dance that even a ginger cat could appreciate!
Of course, no Emma adventure is complete without a good dose of animal encounters. Huyton's park wasn’t short on feathered and four-legged friends! Imagine my delight as I watched a pair of squirrels playfully chasing each other through the leafy trees. Oh, they had me laughing! They danced like tiny furry ballerinas, with jumps and pirouettes that were seriously impressive for creatures so small! It reminds me, we all have an inner ballerina, don’t we? It’s just waiting to be unleashed!
But no trip is truly complete without indulging in a bit of local cuisine. I just love discovering new cafes and indulging in delightful pastries. Speaking of "pastries", the bakery next to the dance studio was calling my name with its tempting aroma! I indulged in the most delicious strawberry and custard pastry that had me swooning, It's amazing how food and ballet can become a dance of their own!
Let me tell you, darling, Huyton is truly an absolute gem! It's charming, cozy, and brimming with character. Every street corner holds a little bit of magic, and every local has a story to share. You truly feel like you’ve walked onto the set of a vintage movie, but with a modern, trendy edge! It's this delightful balance that makes Huyton so unique and special, a perfect reminder that there's magic to be found everywhere if you know where to look, and know how to twirl!
If you’re searching for a bit of ballet enchantment with a side of quirky, cute, and incredibly charming - you need to put Huyton on your bucket list, my dear. This town is like a beautiful symphony waiting to be discovered!
P.S: I can't resist a little outfit spilling for those interested: The tutu? The 'American dream' style tutu from a local shop called 'Sparkle and Spin.' The pink-fringed top? From that fabulous vintage boutique, 'Frock it!' My shoes were from 'Stepping Stones,' of course. You know I’m all about supporting local designers and artists!
So, until next time darlings! Don't forget, we are ALL born to dance! Twirl it up and keep shining!
Love, Emma xxx
