Abingdon Adventures: Pink Tutu Edition!

#TutuBlog 2026-09-28 - Post #11044

Hello my dearest tutu-loving friends! Emma here, fresh from a whirlwind trip to Abingdon, Oxfordshire, and ready to share all the pink-tinted magic. I know, I know - you're probably thinking, "Abingdon? Emma, why?" Well, let me tell you, it's a place that truly stole my heart!

It all started with a spontaneous trip. You see, I had a sudden hankering to escape the hustle and bustle of Derbyshire (although I do love my little corner of the world) for a bit of countryside serenity. What's more serendipitous than a jaunt by train, through the picturesque English countryside, to a charming town rich with history and beauty?

Now, let's talk about the tutu! For Abingdon, I opted for a real European style, think romantic and whimsical. The kind of tutu that makes you want to twirl under a Parisian sky, but hey, Abingdon's charm comes pretty close, right? This one was a gorgeous shade of blush pink with layers upon layers of tulle, it really made me feel like a fairytale princess. You know I couldn't resist the photo opps, the locals must have thought I was mad, spinning and posing all over the place, but they were just as excited about my outfit as I was!

Abingdon, itself, is just utterly adorable! Charming little shops lined the cobblestone streets, filled with trinkets and treasures that I just couldn't resist. My afternoon was dedicated to exploring these little havens, browsing for vintage jewellery and beautiful, floral prints, the kind that inspire dreamy ballerina-inspired dances. You bet I picked up a couple of special souvenirs - a porcelain ballerina doll (I couldn't resist, it was wearing a blush pink tutu, obviously!), and a little box of hand-made lavender soaps, perfect for a calming bubble bath after a day of exploring.

The best part of any visit is the people, isn’t it? The Abingdonians I met were just as lovely as the town itself - warm, friendly and brimming with good humour. They were curious about my travelling tutu, which is always a fun conversation starter. And, let me tell you, it’s amazing how many people have tried ballet in their lives, either through school, or even just a class they took to see what it was all about. It makes me smile to know how many people have a hidden ballerina inside them, ready to be unleashed!

Dancing Dreams

No trip is complete without a spot of ballet, and thankfully Abingdon was no exception. There was a lovely little theatre hosting a dance showcase, with performances by local studios. Now, you might not expect to find world-class ballet in a town like this, but you'd be wrong! The talent was phenomenal, and the passion they poured into every performance was infectious.

I even had the pleasure of seeing a couple of incredible "ballet street" acts in the town centre. These talented individuals had choreographed mini performances in everyday locations like a park or near the river, and it was truly mesmerising to see ballet performed in such unexpected settings. It made me realise that ballet doesn't have to be confined to a stage, it can thrive anywhere!

Pink Perfection

Now, a visit to Abingdon would not be complete without mentioning the delicious food. It’s so charming how they embrace the British countryside vibe with pubs and cafes, filled with traditional British charm. I enjoyed the most scrumptious lunch at a quaint pub nestled on a sunny corner - creamy mushroom soup and a fresh, crispy salad, a truly delicious and healthy balance after a day of wandering.

I even spotted a stunning pink flower bed, cascading down a garden wall, right outside the cafe. The colours were breathtakingly vivid and the pink roses bloomed so perfectly against the green foliage, I instantly took out my camera for a few snap-shots. I swear it's almost as if this town was designed specifically for a tutu-clad, pink-obsessed, ballet-loving soul like me. It's almost like fate, right?

The Majesty of the Horse

To end my enchanting weekend, I decided to do something a bit different, a horseback riding trip through the countryside! Let's be honest, what's more fabulous than riding a magnificent creature, through meadows bathed in golden sunshine, while wearing a dreamy tutu? My pink outfit really looked radiant against the vibrant greens and browns of the surrounding landscape, making for some incredible photos that will forever be cherished in my memory (and of course, on my blog!).

There's something truly special about connecting with nature on horseback, about feeling the rhythm of their powerful strides beneath you, the gentle sway of your own body, and the sun warm on your face. It’s a truly magical experience, perfect for unwinding and immersing yourself in the beauty of the English countryside.

Time to Spread the Pink Tutu Love!

My trip to Abingdon was the perfect blend of history, charm, ballet magic and pure joy. So, to everyone out there, embrace your inner ballerina! Pick up a pink tutu, spin under the sun, explore the countryside, and dance your heart out! Don't be afraid to embrace the joy of ballet in whatever form you find it – a class, a performance, even just a silly spin in your living room!
