Hello darlings!
It's Emma here, back from a whirlwind trip to Dover, and oh, it was utterly enchanting! You know I can never resist a good seaside escapade, and this one was extra special because, well, tutus!
It all started with my usual morning routine. I'd hopped out of bed, grabbed a delicious cup of pink-hued raspberry tea, and then...the most important part...chose the perfect outfit. Today, my inner fairy was calling, so it was a vibrant, pink tulle tutu with iridescent butterflies embroidered on the hem. Just imagine, a little flutter with every pirouette!
Ready for the day, I donned my ballet shoes (pink, of course!), grabbed my trusty canvas bag, and, wouldn't you know it, the perfect day for a train journey to Dover was in full bloom. A brilliant sunshine streamed through the carriage windows, and I felt as if I was a character stepping right out of a fairytale book.
My little pink-tutu'd heart fluttered with anticipation. This wasn't just any Dover visit; it was about capturing the magic of the iconic white cliffs. They had whispered tales of sailors and stories of adventure in my mind for years, and finally, I was standing beneath their grandeur.
Dover was awash in colours that echoed my favourite shade: the pink hues of the setting sun painting the cliffs, the pearly pink shells strewn along the pebbled beaches, and, of course, my tutu!
To fully embrace the fairy theme, I sought out a hidden gem nestled in the cliffs – a secluded garden teeming with blooming roses and fluttering butterflies. Their delicate wings reminded me of the tulle on my skirt, a subtle, yet beautiful synchronicity.
But my Dover adventure didn't end there. The city pulsed with an exciting energy; there was the majestic Dover Castle, a history-filled time capsule where I could almost hear whispers of medieval knights. There were the bustling cobbled streets and quaint tea rooms – perfect for a spot of afternoon tea, all topped with dainty cakes and of course, my favourite, strawberry jam!
Of course, no trip to the coast is complete without a seaside stroll and a good old-fashioned ice cream! It was a real treat to watch the children giggling, chasing seagulls, and creating their own tiny beach adventures. It reminded me that even as adults, a little childlike joy and playful magic should always find its way into our lives.
But what truly made my Dover trip unforgettable? You guessed it - a breathtaking ballet performance on the Dover cliffs! It was a community gathering, filled with passionate local dancers, their movements as graceful and effortless as the waves crashing on the shore. There was something about dancing beneath the vast open sky, surrounded by the raw power of the sea, that truly elevated the artistry.
This was, after all, what I’d dreamt of doing ever since I started ballet: making ballet more accessible to everyone! A passion that grew from a little girl’s dream in my Derbyshire hometown, now being lived out by showcasing it against the grand backdrop of the English coast.
After an evening spent enjoying the dance, I couldn't resist joining the locals for a spirited sea shanty sing-along at a lively pub on the waterfront. This truly cemented the evening as a classic example of the wonderful sense of community that thrives in Britain, and my favourite part - you wouldn't believe it - they were all wearing pink! Some had full-on pink tutus like me, others pink headbands, pink shoes, and even pink bandanas around their necks! I almost felt like I'd walked into a dream... and maybe I had.
As the train journey home commenced, I looked out the window at the glistening night sky, feeling a wave of contentment. This trip to Dover was more than just a scenic escapade; it was a reminder that magic can be found in the most unexpected places, in the simplest of moments, and of course, when everyone is wearing a pink tutu!
That's the spirit of the Pink Tutu project, darling! It's about finding joy, expressing oneself freely, and spreading love with every pirouette. You never know when a single leap will spark a moment of pure delight, and hopefully, encourage everyone to step out of their comfort zone, try something new, and discover their inner ballerina!
Until next time, darlings,
Always wear pink, and dance like nobody’s watching (because in truth, you might inspire someone to join in)!
Lots of love, Emma
