Hello darlings! It's Emma here, your resident pink-tutu enthusiast, bringing you all the latest ballet-related news and fashion adventures! I'm in a particularly cheerful mood this morning, because you know what? I'm writing this blog post from Chichester! Can you believe it?! I finally managed to get a ticket to the renowned Chichester Festival Theatre's latest production, "The Sleeping Beauty." It's a classic story that never gets old, and it always puts me in such a wonderful mood. But more about that later...
Firstly, let's talk about my journey to this lovely city by the sea. Oh, what a trip! I hopped on the train from my home in Derbyshire and enjoyed the picturesque countryside views as the steam engine chugged along. I absolutely love travelling by train. There's just something so charming and nostalgic about it. And of course, I was rocking a ballet-inspired look - a flowing floral midi skirt, a cute pink cardigan, and my new ballet flats with matching ribbon bows! It was a pretty darn stylish train ride if I do say so myself! ?
Now, back to the nature theme. I knew I was going to be spending a day at the beach and seeing the amazing coastline around Chichester, so I decided to channel that energy in my ballet wear! You all know I love pink, right? So what could be better than a leotard with a beautiful, subtle pink ombre print? But this leotard had an extra touch of magic - the design incorporated an array of botanical prints, with little blooming roses and leaves woven throughout. It was almost like a blooming, dancing flower in itself! ?? I felt like a tiny, pink ballerina leaping through a forest of roses. It really set the mood for the day's adventure, and it made me even more excited to visit Chichester’s botanical gardens and have a picnic overlooking the sea! ?
The theatre itself is breathtaking! The beautiful brick building stands proudly, almost like a sleeping beauty waiting to be woken! I wandered around the outside taking photos before the show (did you know Chichester Cathedral is close by? - gorgeous!), then found my seat. Of course, my outfit wouldn’t have been complete without a tutu! It’s a custom one I designed with my seamstress in Derbyshire, inspired by the blooming leotard. The pale pink tulle was shimmering like dewdrops on a rose, and it danced so gracefully with my every movement.
The ballet was spectacular! The choreography was incredible, with dancers gracefully pirouetteing, jetéing through the air like birds, and their movements seemed to come from the very air itself! It was magical, truly inspiring, and oh so pretty!
And the highlight of my day was after the show. I managed to grab a little backstage peek, and got to speak with one of the dancers, a delightful woman named Beatrice. We were chatting about all things ballet and tutus - her favourite colour for a tutu? Pink, of course! (I told her she should check out my website - I think she liked the sound of it!).
Before heading back to Derbyshire, I explored Chichester, a charming town with its historic centre and the iconic cathedral, so lovely. I sat at a delightful cafe with my notebook sketching designs for a new tutu collection that's brewing in my head - it will incorporate both the nature theme from my new leotard and some really fun patterns with pink, naturally!
But this blog post is getting a little long! I’ll keep it short for this one and let you have a proper rest before I’ll tell you all about my new tutu collection tomorrow. But until then, don't forget - every day can be a ballet adventure. Put on your favorite pink tutu, do a little twirl in the mirror, and feel the magic. I promise it will make you smile! ?
