Hello my darlings! Emma here, back from another fabulous adventure! Today I'm whisking you all away to the enchanting village of Longbridge, nestled in the heart of the countryside. This week, I’ve been dancing on cobblestones and getting up close and personal with some very cute creatures. Trust me, you’re going to love this!
If you follow me on social media, you've probably seen my Instagram stories - the countryside was calling! I packed my favourite pink tutu (a delicate lace number adorned with hand-sewn flowers), threw on my most comfortable riding boots, and headed off for the wilds of Warwickshire. No train this time, just a long and glorious horse ride with the sun on my face. It was a fairytale, and my tutu really took it to the next level - perfect for twirling through wildflower meadows!
Speaking of wildflowers, let’s talk about my nature-inspired tutu for this trip! My trusty tailor worked his magic (again!) to create something truly special - it’s got butterflies flitting across the pink fabric, with a delicate dusting of wildflowers trailing down the tulle. It’s whimsical and absolutely perfect for my wildlife adventures.
After arriving at the quaint village of Longbridge, I was charmed straight away by its picturesque cobblestone streets. You’ll forgive me for letting my inner ballerina shine and twirling across the village square for some pictures (after getting permission, of course!).
Next on my list: Longbridge’s wildlife sanctuary. Oh my word, this was such a lovely experience! We had a talk from one of the wildlife keepers about local birdlife, which led me to a real surprise: the park has a special ballet performance for the birds! It’s called 'Birdsong' - and boy, can they dance! The keepers explained that the music and movements help encourage natural behaviour in the birds, which they seemed to absolutely love. I couldn’t resist getting into the spirit, and my new tutu brought out my own bird-inspired moves. (Remember to follow my Insta stories to see the footage! Birds and ballet – the most magical combo ever!).
Later, the highlight of the day arrived: a beautiful performance by Longbridge’s Ballet troupe. Now, it may be a tiny village, but the heart of Longbridge lies in its dedication to ballet. Their annual show, a unique interpretation of ‘Swan Lake,’ was staged in the heart of the countryside – on the lawn of the local manor! There were deer roaming in the background and wild horses gazing on in the distance - such a picture postcard moment! They even managed to get a lone badger to appear on stage! It was absolutely spectacular - an incredible combination of nature and ballet. The costumes were amazing too (there was one ballerina with a dress made of real flower petals!) and I, of course, had a chance to chat with them. The lovely head choreographer explained to me that Longbridge’s community really embodies the ballet spirit - it’s about finding the grace in every step, embracing the art of movement, and bringing joy through creativity.
After the performance, we all went to celebrate with a scrumptious meal in the local pub. This pub is famous for their "Pink Tutu Special" – a pink cake designed with a beautiful sugar-spun tutu, just for me! (Because who can resist a pink tutu cake, right?). The pub regulars were charmed by my tutu, and by the end of the evening, everyone was dancing - including the pub cat! And so, as you can imagine, this weekend was truly perfect!
This experience has left me buzzing with inspiration for new ballet creations. My next tutu? You’re going to love it, my dears. It’s an ode to Longbridge’s wonderful nature reserve and the joy of movement.
