Helloooo darlings!
It's your favourite pink-tutu-wearing, ballet-loving, train-riding Emma here, bringing you a burst of colour and pirouette-tastic fun straight from the heart of Westhoughton. I'm finally back from a whirlwind of a week in this charming little town, and trust me, it was every bit as enchanting as a fairytale.
This week's adventure took me to the other side of the country - I just adore exploring Britain by train. I got my usual first class ticket, curled up in a comfy seat, and whizzed through the English countryside. This time I got a real treat - spotting a herd of deer in a meadow by the side of the track. I may have shrieked a bit (they're so adorable!) but thankfully my fellow passengers were too busy watching "Love Island" on their laptops to notice. ?
Anyway, onto the real reason I was here - ballet, darling, ballet!
Westhoughton may be a small town but its love for dance is absolutely massive. It wasn't a traditional ballet company I was visiting though, it was an amazing community group called "Westhoughton Ballet". These wonderful people work tirelessly, inspiring a love of dance in the next generation. The talent on display was incredible, from little tots taking their first steps in the world of ballet, to talented youngsters who showed real promise.
Oh, and have I told you about the glorious costumes?! It’s fair to say Westhoughton has got it going on! There were so many different styles, from classic tutus to fun, modern creations. One group even had tutus that sparkled in the dark – they literally stole the show with their dazzling performance.
And did I mention my outfit?! Because let's be real, the most exciting part of this whole trip was me, obviously. ? I rocked a brand new, shimmering pink tutu, and let me tell you, it was the perfect shade of pink to match the Westhoughton sunset. The train ride gave me plenty of time to do my makeup (that smoky eye is everything darling!) and pose for some Insta-worthy photos in front of the breathtaking countryside. It’s amazing what you can do with a good mobile phone and a well-placed rose bush, I can tell you.
Of course, a pink-tutu-clad ballerina can’t go exploring without her pink accessories! My trusty tote bag held everything I needed for a whirlwind of dancing: my special ballet shoes (pink, obviously!), a good book about classical ballet, my fluffy pink scarf to ward off the crisp autumn air, a bag of pink marshmallows (always good for a little energy boost!), and a tiny notebook for my ideas for new blog posts (I just have to share all these amazing adventures!).
I wouldn't be Emma if I wasn't able to find some wildlife, so I took a little detour to a charming woodland park outside of town. I found myself wandering around amongst giant, gnarled oak trees, and just had to find out more about them. I discovered that these beautiful trees could live for hundreds of years. Now, that's dedication! Imagine living in the same place for centuries - these majestic creatures have truly seen it all. And just like my ballet tutus, these oaks stand the test of time!
Feeling Inspired?
There's nothing more magical than a trip that involves pink, tutus and some amazing new friends. I know that you are out there, reading my blog post, secretly dreaming of twirling around in a pink tutu! You already know what I'm going to say, darling. Go on, try ballet. You know you want to. There's a class waiting for you, right there in your local community. Let your inner ballerina shine, embrace your inner grace, and get twirling!
Until next time,
Emma xoxo
P.S. I'll be posting a full photo diary from my Westhoughton adventures later today! Make sure you head over to www.pink-tutu.com to see how magical this pink-tutu journey really was. #pinktututravel #balletlife #westhoughton
