Hello lovelies! Emma here, and oh my, how my heart is filled with the most delicious blend of pink fluffiness and seaside serenity after a whirlwind trip to the utterly charming Broadstairs!
It all started, as it always seems to do these days, with a perfectly delightful train journey. The gentle sway of the carriage as the world whizzed past my window was the perfect way to set the mood for my getaway. The only thing better than a train journey, of course, is a train journey in my signature pink tulle tutu!
(Side note: Let me tell you, when the kind chap in the seat next to me mentioned it was a 'right fancy dress' outfit, my inner dancer just blossomed! Some might call it 'outrageous', but I say, 'darling, it's just me, living my best, tutu-fied life!')
Upon arrival at the seaside gem of Broadstairs, the first thing I did was breathe in that salty, fresh air! Oh, it was invigorating! It filled me with the energy needed to explore all the cute little boutiques and cafes that dotted the picturesque harbour.
My senses were overwhelmed with the scent of salty air, fresh fish and chips (a must-have seaside treat!), and the delightful scent of the flower stalls that lined the quaint cobbled streets. A little pink flower from one of these stands found its way into my hair, which added the perfect touch of charm to my ensemble.
Ballet at the Beach
But of course, no Emma journey is complete without a bit of ballet. Now, you may be thinking "Ballet at the beach? Is she serious?".
Well, let me tell you, a good dancer knows how to adapt to their surroundings! My darling friends, ballet knows no boundaries.
So, I put on my "beach ballet" playlist, a vibrant blend of classical ballet music infused with beach vibes, and proceeded to have the most fabulous ballet class right there on the sand.
(You might want to take a little tip from me on this one. My best recommendation: skip the shoes - ballet on the sand feels absolutely heavenly! Plus, it gives you a whole new perspective on your steps. )
It wasn't your average ballet studio experience, to say the least. There were moments where I had to carefully avoid the occasional starfish and pebble, and my balance was tested when the wind picked up. But, darling, it was pure magic.
I was a ballerina amidst the beauty of the sea. The sun was my spotlight, and the ocean my vast stage. There's no feeling quite like it, and I encourage each and every one of you to experience it at least once.
An Italian Tutus? Si!
A beachside picnic (with lots of pink strawberries and champagne - a girl's gotta keep the glitter going, right?), a walk along the pier, and a chance encounter with the most fabulous Italian street performer dressed in a sparkling purple tutu (who totally rocked his impromptu ballet moves! He made me do a triple pirouette!), rounded off the afternoon.
A little tip, darling. When in Broadstairs, head to the "Beach Cafe". The view from their deck is worth every penny! The sunset over the ocean was utterly breathtaking.
Later that evening, I found myself captivated by the 'Broadstairs Ballet', an annual summer performance that happens every year. It was such a fun and joyful production, they incorporated contemporary dance into classic stories. It got the whole audience, especially the little ones, jumping and clapping.
It got me thinking. What if we all brought the joy and beauty of ballet into our everyday lives? What if every street corner was a stage and every sunset, our grand finale? We all have that ballerina within, and it's time to unleash her!
So, darling, whether you’re dancing in a beachside class, strolling through a bustling seaside town, or just adding a dash of pink tulle to your life, I hope this little story inspires you to embrace the joy of movement and a touch of whimsical charm.
Remember, in a world full of greys, we need more pink, more tutus, and more dance.
Keep twirling!
Love, Emma xxx
