Nottingham: Tutu-tastic Adventures! ??

Hey darlings,

It’s Emma here, your resident pink tutu-wearing, ballet-loving adventurer, and today I’m bubbling over with excitement because I’ve just returned from a weekend in Nottingham! Post number 11099 is officially ready to be devoured. Let’s dive in!

I love a good train journey - there's just something magical about gliding through the countryside, watching the world pass by while sipping on a steaming mug of hot chocolate (marshmallows, of course!). So, I packed my trusty pink overnight bag, a pair of ballet shoes (you can never have too many!), and of course, my pièce de résistance – a brand new fluffy white tutu, fit for a ballerina swan.

My first stop in Nottingham was the legendary Theatre Royal, where I took in a breathtaking performance of Swan Lake. Oh my goodness, the grace, the beauty, the sheer power of the dancers - I was mesmerized! It got me all excited to get back to the studio myself.

* Ballet Class in the City Centre *

After the show, I hit the streets of Nottingham for a bit of ballet shopping, where I found a delightful little shop called "Dancers Delight" packed full of tutus, leotards, and ballet shoes – absolute heaven! I grabbed a gorgeous pink leotard with a matching headband, because let’s face it, who can resist a touch of pink?

Next, I was eager to try out Nottingham's "The Ballet Project" studio, tucked away in a cosy cobblestone alley. The space was intimate but buzzing with energy, with the warm light of the studio creating a real sense of community. The class was incredible – a dynamic mix of barre work and contemporary techniques that pushed my limits and left me feeling energised and exhilarated.

*A Stroll through the Park *

But you know me, I love to get my nature fix too! So after a scrumptious afternoon tea (always essential for any good ballet-related outing!), I found myself wandering through Nottingham’s lovely Arboretum. It was a beautiful autumn day with the trees bursting with crimson and gold hues – absolutely stunning! The air was crisp and filled with the rustling of leaves, a perfect symphony to the soundtrack of my own dancing heart. I twirled among the autumn leaves, feeling like a character in a ballet fairytale.

Wildlife Encounters in Wollaton Hall

Next on my Nottingham itinerary was Wollaton Hall, an Elizabethan manor house with the most spectacular grounds – you can almost hear the echo of historical tales whispered through its ancient stone walls. And of course, I had to meet the resident resident red deer herd - they’re quite the fashionable crowd with their velvety antlers and graceful movements. It was almost as if they were auditioning for a new ballet performance!

*A Tutus-ful Fashion Statement *

Now, this wouldn’t be a "Pink Tutu" blog post without a fashion statement, would it? So, of course, I couldn’t resist donning my white tutu for a twirl in Wollaton Park’s gardens! (Think graceful swan among ancient oaks, just picture it!) You know me, a girl can't resist a photo op for a ballet blog, so naturally, I snapped a few photos for the ‘gram – ballet in the park? Yes, please!

Food, Glorious Food!

But what’s a day trip without delicious food? My tummy was quite the fan of Nottingham's foodie scene. From the cosy tea rooms offering the best scones with clotted cream and homemade jam to the bustling restaurants boasting international cuisine, every bite was an explosion of flavour. And let's not forget the quintessential Nottingham delicacy, the "Spotted Dick" – an adorable name for a traditional pudding that’s simply delicious!

*Final Thoughts on Nottingham *

This city truly won my heart – with its charming historic architecture, thriving arts scene, friendly atmosphere, and most importantly, its commitment to spreading ballet joy! As a Derbyshirian girl myself, I'm quite proud of Nottingham’s rich history, vibrant culture, and warm embrace of dance – it’s definitely a place where anyone can twirl with confidence.

If you haven’t visited Nottingham yet, add it to your travel bucket list immediately!

Remember, darlings, the world needs more pink tutus and even more people who love ballet! So get your pink on, slip on your dancing shoes, and go make some magic!

Until next time,

Love, Emma ?
