Hello darlings! Emma here, fresh from a whirlwind trip to Liverpool and feeling as pink as a flamingo! I've just got back from a long, romantic journey, a mix of steam trains and the soothing clomping of a horse-drawn carriage. Can't you just imagine it - me, in my fabulous red tutu (it's a special one, just for travel), tucked up in a compartment on a rattling train, daydreaming about Liverpool and all the gorgeous ballet adventures that await!
I love Liverpool, with its grand architecture, the friendly faces and its fabulous ballet scene. There's just something about a city that embraces the arts, doesn't there?
A Ballet Wonderland
The reason for my Liverpool adventure was, of course, the ballet! And what an adventure it was! First up was a captivating performance at the beautiful Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. The dance was a contemporary masterpiece, full of emotion and movement, and the dancers, with their powerful, expressive bodies, left me speechless. It was an explosion of passion and grace, and I simply couldn't help but sway along in my seat (a little bit)!
I later got to chat with a lovely lady called Sarah, one of the dancers in the piece, who was kind enough to answer my endless questions. You see, she was one of those people who knew that the ballet was meant for them from the tender age of 6. Just like me! But her story had a twist. Sarah told me she discovered her passion for ballet whilst spending time on her grandmother's farm. She would often spend hours watching the horses move with such grace, their bodies swirling in perfect harmony, and knew, in that moment, she wanted to move like them, but with a little more human expressiveness. What a gorgeous story, right?! And who knew a horse-drawn carriage ride could be such an inspiration?
Sharing the Ballet Love
One of the best things about going to the ballet is meeting fellow dance enthusiasts like Sarah. And let me tell you, I’m still feeling the incredible buzz from a fun ballet workshop with some of the city's best young dancers. It was like a mini tutu-filled party! We all giggled as we stumbled through some moves, shared stories, and even managed to execute a decent fouetté or two. These young ladies, like my dear Sarah, are full of potential. And they definitely sparked some new ideas for my Pink Tutu Movement. I am truly passionate about getting more people to wear pink tutus and discover the joy of ballet - a dance for everyone, don't you agree?
And speaking of Pink Tutu, you're probably wondering what I did in Liverpool after a whole day dedicated to ballet. Well, my dear, a girl’s gotta eat! But, of course, not just any food! There’s nothing more satisfying to me than a plateful of freshly baked Victoria Sponge, pink icing optional (though definitely preferred!). I savoured this little piece of heaven while looking out at the beautiful city skyline. What can I say? My heart belongs in Liverpool.
Wild Moments
No trip would be complete without a touch of wildlife, especially for this girl! I decided to pop over to Sefton Park where I found myself enchanted by the feathered residents – a bunch of majestic swans gliding gracefully across the lake, all pink tutu dreams coming to life, I tell you! It was quite the inspiring moment - they reminded me that there is so much beauty and magic to be found, just like in the art of ballet. And who can resist a cheeky bird-themed pink tutu?! ?
The following day, my horse and carriage took me across the rolling hills of the English countryside, feeling utterly rejuvenated after my weekend in Liverpool. Every moment, every experience, every pink-tutu fuelled adventure makes my soul soar!
But it's time for this Pink Tutu Princess to sign off for now.
