Morning, my gorgeous little tutu twirlers! ?
Well, Christmas morning has arrived in glorious, glittery style here in Tottenham. The air is thick with anticipation (and possibly a smidge of sausage roll from the festive breakfast), and I just know that today is going to be absolutely magical.
For those of you who haven't followed my recent adventures on Instagram, you might have missed my slightly impulsive decision to pack my little tutu suitcase and hop on a train down to London. My bestie, Chloe (the one with the most fabulous hair and a collection of tutus to rival my own), had invited me to spend the holiday with her family. We haven't spent Christmas together since we were about 12, running around in pink tutus at our Derbyshire dance class, giggling uncontrollably. Time really does fly when you're having fun, eh?
This year, I decided to pack my favourite tutu, a gorgeous shade of pink, obviously, with silver accents. And, of course, I brought my lucky charm, a tiny, sequined unicorn that sits proudly on my dance bag, just for good measure.
The train journey down was an absolute joy. There were people with twinkling eyes, the carriages were warm and comforting, and I spotted a charming elderly couple sharing a box of Quality Street (and their love story, apparently - that's what you get when you spend a long time on the train together, eh?) They really were the epitome of Christmas joy, sharing a smile and a little piece of sweet chocolate magic with the entire carriage. I swear, the festive spirit of the train journey was more potent than a whole bottle of mulled wine.
Once I arrived in Tottenham, Chloe’s family welcomed me with open arms, homemade mince pies, and enough festive cheer to fill a dozen snowglobes. We had a heart-warming Christmas Eve feast with her family, including a very energetic rendition of "Silent Night" by Chloe's youngest niece, Millie. Let’s just say that “silent” might be an understatement when it comes to her rendition. But let's be honest, any kid that brings joy to Christmas Eve deserves all the festive cheer they can handle!
Then, in true Christmas tradition, we tucked ourselves under the blankets and settled in for a classic film night. As we all huddled on the couch with mugs of steaming hot chocolate, my mind drifted back to my own family Christmases. The twinkling lights of the Christmas tree, the smell of roasting turkey and the gentle strum of Dad’s old guitar playing carols, and of course, our family's annual tradition of ballet themed charades. (There are so many funny things that come up when you're trying to mime a "Swan Lake" solo with just your arms!). It's moments like these that remind me just how much I love my life and all the incredible people who make it so magical.
This morning, we've woken up to a Christmas wonderland! The streets are alive with people in bright coats and hats, and the crisp air has that special sparkle that you can only feel on Christmas Day. We’re about to head out for our annual walk to see the Christmas lights at Tottenham Hale. Every year they're bigger and better than the last, with colourful decorations adorning the trees and buildings, reflecting a breathtaking mosaic of colours.
I’m planning on picking up a beautiful, vintage-inspired Christmas bauble at the Tottenham Christmas Market, something that I can keep and remember this incredible trip. Maybe I'll find a pink tutu charm to go with it... you never know.
But even though I'm away from home, my thoughts are filled with wishes for all of you. May your day be filled with happiness, delicious food, laughter, and perhaps even a little twirl or two! After all, life is all about dancing your heart out, especially at Christmas. And don't forget: life is much more fun in a tutu!
So, Merry Christmas everyone! And may your hearts be filled with pink-tutu fuelled joy.
Sending you lots of love, and big twirls, from a snowy Tottenham.
Love,
Emma
