Hey my lovely Tutu Tribe! ? It's Emma here, ready to whisk you away to a world of swirling tulle, vibrant colours and a dash of…pancake? ? You read that right! Salford, you have a special place in my heart, and today I'm going to share all the adventures and thrills this Northern gem had in store for me.
I woke up this morning feeling like I was in a fairytale, bathed in the golden light filtering through the curtains of my hotel room. The gentle scent of Derbyshire countryside was in the air (though maybe it was just the lavender shampoo I always pack, but who's really paying attention to that with such enchanting surroundings, right?!)
Today's outfit was, of course, a ballet-inspired masterpiece: a sunshine yellow tulle skirt paired with a chic pink lace top and, the pièce de résistance - a gorgeous pancake tutu. Yep, you heard me right! It's actually a brand-new style of tutu that I've been obsessed with for a while now. Imagine a perfectly sculpted pancake, but instead of fluffy batter, it's layers of softest, flowing tulle - dreamy, don't you think?
I decided to skip the taxi this morning and hop on the train. Something about the rhythm of the rails always sets my creativity flowing! The ride itself was beautiful – rolling hills and green meadows whizzing by, just begging to be captured on camera. It's no secret I have a penchant for dramatic shots, so I had to seize the opportunity for a couple of impromptu photoshoots! #pancaketututrainshoot
The first stop on my Salford escapade was the wonderful "Northern Ballet" Theatre. I had tickets to see a brand new show based on the stories of a ballet dancer called "Emily". The performance was simply breathtaking! There was such a powerful blend of contemporary and classical dance styles – Emily's journey really took me on an emotional rollercoaster! It's performances like these that remind me why I love the world of dance so much; the way it transcends language and brings us together through shared experiences.
After the show, it was time for a quick detour to the Salford Quays. I wanted to take in the modern architecture and feel the bustling energy of the area. The quays themselves were an amazing sight, with sparkling waters reflecting the city lights. It truly felt like I'd stumbled onto a different planet.
Dinner was a feast for the senses. A delectable spread of locally sourced delights, bursting with flavour and creativity! I know I said I was on a whirlwind tour of Salford, but honestly, a girl's gotta fuel her dance dreams. And what better way to fuel than with delicious food?
You guys know my love for tutus knows no bounds, so I just had to share a little secret – after dinner I headed to a local shop, just overflowing with fabrics and accessories. I couldn't leave without some new goodies! Just imagine my excitement when I found this dazzling neon pink fabric – it's perfect for crafting another glorious tutu for my ever-growing collection. It just speaks "bold", "glamorous", "dancing through the streets of Salford" – all the vibes I was feeling, right?
Now, my day in Salford wasn't all about glamour and fabulousness. I have a soft spot for nature, and that extends to creatures, big and small! I snuck away for a while to Salford's “Animal Oasis”, where I got to witness the most adorable furry residents. They definitely brought out the "awwws" from my inner fangirl. They are all rescued, and so their stories just touched my heart. Just because you’re a ballet dancer, doesn’t mean you can't love the great outdoors. There is nothing more refreshing than some fresh air.
Salford's been a revelation. The vibrancy of its culture, the captivating architecture, the warm atmosphere, the wonderful animal friends and of course, the chance to twirl in my pancake tutu! I don't know about you, but my "tutu-loving heart" was bursting with happiness! And you know what else? Salford was a fantastic reminder that dance is for everyone, everywhere! If you've ever thought about taking up ballet, trust me, you should just go for it! You never know, you might just end up making the world a little more sparkly, one pirouette at a time! ?
