Saint Albans: Where the Pink Tutu Met a Roman Past (Post #11166)

Hey my gorgeous girlies! It’s Emma here, your favourite pink-loving, tutu-obsessed ballerina, and I’m thrilled to be back on www.pink-tutu.com, reporting to you live from the enchanting town of Saint Albans!

This past weekend, I hopped aboard the train (couldn’t resist the opportunity to enjoy a scenic carriage ride, of course!) and made my way to Hertfordshire. Saint Albans – with its quaint cobbled streets and medieval architecture - felt like a step back in time. I couldn't resist taking a leisurely stroll through the beautiful Verulamium Park, letting the crisp air fill my lungs and enjoying the chirping of birds overhead. It's a great place to connect with nature, and that makes my heart happy!

I've always been a fan of a bit of history, and this town boasts some serious historical treasures. First, there’s Verulamium itself, a Roman settlement, which is fascinating for those of you who love ancient history as much as I do. You can wander through the ruins and imagine what it was like back in Roman times. I mean, come on, even my tutu would feel at home amongst the mosaics and pillars!

And then there's the Cathedral! It's majestic and truly breathtaking. Stepping into that sacred space with its soaring arches and stained-glass windows felt magical. Imagine practicing pirouettes amidst the centuries-old grandeur! It would definitely make for some dramatic footage for my next ballet vlog (hint, hint!).

Of course, no trip to a new place is complete without experiencing its food scene. After exploring the town, I found myself utterly smitten with a little cafe, serving the most delightful pasta dishes. Honestly, you girls have to try them! It was a flavour sensation, a whirlwind of aromas that made my stomach sing, a symphony of flavour that transported me back to Italy... just with a side of Saint Albans sunshine!

Speaking of Italy, you guys won't believe what I picked up at a boutique on the high street – an absolute gem of a tutu! This one's a true statement piece, an Italian masterpiece of pink tulle and glittering embellishments that would make even the most renowned ballerinas gasp in envy. I had to have it, naturally! The moment I saw it, I knew it had to join my collection – it’s like a princess's dream come true. I can't wait to twirl around in this beauty at my next class!

Now, you might think a trip to Saint Albans wouldn't have much to do with ballet. But, that’s where you’d be wrong! Saint Albans is actually brimming with opportunities to twirl. The local dance studio, The Dance Space, had classes all week, including a gorgeous ballet class on Saturday that was simply divine. The instructor was brilliant and everyone, from experienced ballerinas to absolute beginners, was having a ball. I even met a lovely girl who has just started her ballet journey. It was a joy to hear her enthusiasm and encouragement.

Later, I attended a captivating performance of Swan Lake at the local theatre. Seeing all those talented dancers take to the stage, swirling through those intricate routines, brought me such inspiration and joy. Watching professional ballet performances is like seeing your dreams come alive, don’t you think?

What else could I want? It seems as if the entire universe has conspired to give me a spectacular weekend. As I sip on my chamomile tea and reflect on this beautiful journey, a question keeps circling in my head: what does it take to have the kind of luck I seem to have when travelling?

Do you think I have a secret? Or maybe it’s a sprinkle of magic I sprinkle on myself before I go, using the ultimate combination: A healthy dose of sunshine, a big dash of hope and optimism, and, of course, a pinch of glitter. Or maybe, it’s just my favourite pink tutu that attracts these magical experiences. It must be something! Whatever it is, I hope to keep finding new and exciting ways to embrace life with the same vibrant energy.

Stay tuned, my darlings, for more updates from my travel adventures and ballet explorations. Don’t forget to visit my site every day for a dose of pink, glitz and all things tutu. And remember, the world is waiting for you to put on your tutu and take on the world!

See you all next time!

Emma xx
