Barking with a Yellow Tutu: Post #11210

Hello darlings! It’s Emma here, and as usual, I’m brimming with excitement and pink-tinted optimism.

Today’s adventures started a little…unconventional. Remember that cute little carriage I snagged from an antique shop in Derby? The one that looked straight out of a fairytale? Well, I decided it needed a little sprucing up – and by “sprucing up”, I mean I completely repainted it pink.

(Yes, you’ve read that correctly - I have a pink carriage! What can I say, I'm a girl who knows how to embrace the colour of my dreams!) I hitched up my little chestnut mare, Bumble, and set off on a leisurely journey to Barking in Essex. Why Essex? Because I was finally fulfilling a long-held dream - going to see the world-renowned Ballet-on-Wheels circus show! (Let's face it, who doesn’t adore a travelling ballet show?!)

Now, this is where the "yellow tutu" bit comes in. For my trip, I opted for a rather vibrant yellow tutu (naturally, with a pink satin bow, because, you know, balance!) It was the perfect counterpoint to the glorious green fields that whizzed by as I bounced along the Essex countryside in my carriage. The horses found it particularly amusing – they seemed to neigh with delight at my eccentric outfit!

Once I reached Barking, the air buzzed with excitement. The Circus grounds were vibrant with colourful flags, delicious smells emanating from food stalls, and an air of sheer joy and wonder that always fills a circus atmosphere. And oh, the costumes! A kaleidoscope of colour, tutus of every size and shade, (And let me tell you, darling, the shade of green on one of those costumes was just divine).

The Ballet-on-Wheels show was phenomenal! From graceful leaps to elegant spins, and everything in between, the ballet company wowed us all. It was almost like being transported to the stage of the Royal Opera House, except with a slightly more magical vibe, you know? You could feel the joy and passion in their dancing, a feeling that swept through the entire circus tent!

After the show, I indulged in a most decadent ice-cream sundae - it was topped with fresh berries, and sprinkled with… wait for it, pink sprinkles! It was divine.

This whole day out at Barking, you see, is about embracing the extraordinary. Taking those moments of ordinary life, and injecting a bit of pink magic into them! I do believe we can all do this - it's all about unleashing that inner ballerina, you know!

For me, that inner ballerina took me to Barking with a yellow tutu. It was a journey filled with fun, excitement, and a healthy dose of colour. But you know me, dear reader – the journey is only just beginning. I’ve already started sketching a design for a pink, glittery tutu – this one is going to be absolutely extraordinary! And don’t even get me started on my next carriage upgrade…

Keep it colourful, keep it sparkly, keep it fun!

Yours in pink (and yellow),

Emma

Now for the outfit deets, darlings!

  • Tutu: Yellow silk tulle (obviously! The color of the sun! It simply demands a matching pink bow! I had mine made specially in London).
  • Top: Pink and white striped cropped top (I believe “ballet chic” needs to be expressed both on stage and off stage.
  • Carriage: Custom painted in the most magnificent pale pink.
  • Bumble (My gorgeous chestnut mare, **of course, wears her very own miniature pink saddle. )
  • Pink glitter hair clip: This, dear reader, was absolutely necessary for the show, because every outfit needs that extra dash of pink magic.

    A Bit About My Week

  • Monday was a classic - a Ballet Barre session.

    • Tuesday I had the pleasure of joining my dear friend Sophie at the ballet studio – she’s been teaching a youth ballet class. It’s so heartwarming to see all those young future ballerinas in their adorable pink tutus! (There were a few little boys there, too. And yes, some of them were sporting tutus!).
    • Wednesday was dedicated to writing blog posts (and taking photos in pink, obviously).
  • Thursday, you guessed it - ballet class again!

    • Friday was a day for rehearsals – I am performing in a small theatrical performance on Saturday evening, but I'm not going to tell you the details yet! You have to be patient and wait for my next post!
    • Sunday, a day of rest - unless I’m feeling very adventurous and want to head for a new town on the back of Bumble.

I have a feeling it is going to be a pink, sparkly week, darlings!

I can't wait to hear all about your adventures too! Don't forget, the internet’s all about connection and sharing. Drop me a comment on www.pink-tutu.com to share your pink adventures with me, darlings. Until tomorrow… xx
