Hey darlings! It's Emma here, your resident tutu-wearing, ballet-loving, pink-obsessed friend! Today's post is all about Bexleyheath, a little slice of charm I discovered in the most unexpected way. As you all know, I'm always up for an adventure, and a train ride seemed like the perfect way to break up the week.
The journey was itself a little fairy tale, complete with fields of wildflowers blurring past the window and a glorious sun beaming down. You wouldn't believe it, but the cutest family of squirrels were scurrying across the tracks – just look at them trying to keep up with the speed of the train, they are so adorable. That's what I love about train journeys, there's always a new adventure to be found outside the window.
Speaking of adventures, I wasn't just headed to Bexleyheath for a lovely train ride. Nope, my true purpose was to explore its hidden treasures, most importantly - its food scene! I must say, this little town truly blew me away. It's overflowing with quirky, independent cafes and charming tea rooms, all serving up deliciousness fit for a ballerina princess. I’m convinced that they have found some secret way to put pink into absolutely every pastry and drink available. And guess what, I was ready to embrace it all!
First up, a pit stop at the "Bexleyheath Tea Garden", a quaint little tea room nestled amongst cobbled streets. Stepping inside, it was like entering a magical haven. The floral wallpaper, delicate china teacups, and scent of freshly baked scones created a sense of utter bliss.
I indulged in a cup of floral tea, a generous helping of lemon drizzle cake, and of course, a scrumptious strawberry scone with lashings of clotted cream. A delightful and proper afternoon tea.
From there, my little tutu-clad feet led me to the local farmer's market, which was bursting with vibrant colours and fragrant aromas. It was the perfect place to sample local delights and mingle with the charming locals. I snagged a couple of juicy peaches and some hand-picked strawberries – perfect for a little picnic later!
Now, you know how much I adore my tutus, right? So for Bexleyheath, I had a special outfit planned. Imagine a swirling, soft pink tulle skirt with a little sprinkle of gold glitter, paired with a ballet-inspired, silk top - I even had a delicate, silver necklace to complete the look. All in all, I felt like a ballerina on her way to the most elegant party in the world!
My explorations took me down cobbled streets and charming alleyways. Every turn revealed a new story waiting to be uncovered. A sweet little bakery filled with delectable pastries and handcrafted treats. A bookshop bursting with tales of adventure and imagination. The friendly atmosphere, the laughter echoing through the streets, and the sight of families enjoying their day made Bexleyheath feel like a true home away from home.
In the evening, I headed to a local theater, tucked away in a charming corner of town. The theater was preparing to host a ballet show and you'll never guess what the dancers were wearing, Pink tutus of course! I couldn't resist joining them for a short rehearsal. Such talent, such skill! The energy in the room was electric. As a lifelong ballet lover, being a part of this special moment felt like a dream come true!
As the stars twinkled in the sky, I felt a sense of immense gratitude for the magic of this town. Bexleyheath stole a piece of my heart with its warmth, charm, and a captivating combination of nature's beauty and delicious delights.
