Hey darlings! It's your favourite pink-tutu-clad blogger, Emma, here, ready to whisk you away to a world of feathered tutus, vibrant countryside, and of course, ballet! Today's adventure took me to the charming village of Earley, a delightful little gem nestled just outside Reading. This picturesque village has definitely become a new favourite for me – it's brimming with old-world charm and those idyllic green spaces that make my heart sing.
Now, let's talk about the tutu! Today, I chose a stunning feather tutu – a confection of blush pink and creamy white feathers that danced with me in the gentle summer breeze. It’s amazing how a tutu can transform you! It’s not just a garment, it’s a gateway to feeling a sense of grace, strength and freedom. It's no wonder we say, "tutus make dreams come true!"
This particular feather tutu was inspired by the graceful swans of the nearby Thames. It's incredible how wildlife always influences my outfits – you should see the flamingo-inspired look I'm planning for next week! But we’ll save that for another day.
Speaking of inspiring wildlife, before heading to Earley, I enjoyed a morning at the Royal Berkshire Nature Park. What a joy! I walked along nature trails, admired the captivating local birdlife, and let the tranquil sounds of nature lull me into a state of pure serenity. It’s incredible how nature inspires you to move your body, you feel more free and open. I know how much everyone is telling you that dance is good for you and now I understand how. That fresh air and sunlight and all the sounds around really got me thinking about how I want to combine nature and ballet even more in my next few projects. It’s not just an aesthetic, but there’s this emotional resonance too that’s so strong and that I want to translate through my art. I felt like a swan ballerina amongst those wild geese!
And the best part of it all? I found the most fabulous little vintage shop that stocked an array of pink dresses, scarves, and shoes - you guessed it, I emerged with a beautiful powder pink shawl. Can't resist a bit of pink treasure hunting! It goes without saying that I absolutely had to try it on with my feather tutu - perfect! I truly feel my happiest and most myself when adorned in pink – it's a color that celebrates joy, love, and all things feminine.
From my enchanting afternoon at Earley, I hopped aboard a quaint little train, headed back towards Reading, where the evening’s magic awaited. I couldn’t wait to take in the performance at the Reading Town Hall. Tonight, the stage was alive with a mesmerising dance production – a contemporary ballet based on Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night's Dream.”
Oh my goodness! I could describe it to you all day – from the beautiful fluidity of the choreography to the enchanting costumes, it was an exquisite delight.
What really stuck with me after the performance was how modern they made this classical ballet. It was like a total re-imagining of a classic story, but the core message of love, magic and freedom was still so very strong. I've been inspired! It reminded me that even the most classic styles of dance can be reinvented with fresh interpretations and a little bit of pink sparkle. It’s like saying “okay this is something I recognise but here’s a new way to think about it and explore it”.
Speaking of reinventing classic styles, let's talk about Ballet Street. You're all so very familiar with it already but I'm talking about its latest and greatest iteration. It's not just a way to stay fit – although let’s face it, those core exercises are fantastic. It's become something that's really redefining ballet in this day and age.
Yes, it’s got all the signature moves from a classical training routine. Yes, there's still those elegant steps that look almost impossible. But here’s the thing, Ballet Street is so much more than just about that traditional framework. Ballet Street goes further, it gets real. Ballet Street is like taking a piece of the beautiful theatrical spectacle you see on a stage and finding the best way to make it something you can do every day, with your own unique twist on it, whether it’s that bold pink leotard you bought, your signature ponytail style, whatever it is, you make it your own.
And that's the beauty of ballet! You get to take that classical form and add your own flair. I don't just dance to express myself; I also dance to make a statement! My pink tutu isn’t just for the stage – it’s a statement that we can all embrace femininity and joy, that we can all enjoy art, that we can all try something that challenges us.
