Hey, lovelies! It's Emma from Derbyshire, and guess what? I'm back with another adventure, this time from the charming town of Wishaw, nestled in the Scottish Highlands. If you're not following me on www.pink-tutu.com , you're missing out on a daily dose of pink, twirls, and travels!
Wishaw's Enchanting Arrival
I must say, this journey started in the most magical way - a train ride, of course! There's nothing like settling into a plush carriage, gazing at the ever-changing scenery whizzing past the window. The sunshine was painting the fields with golden hues, and I swear, the birds were singing in perfect time to the rhythm of the wheels on the track. A truly idyllic setting to daydream about all the ballet goodness awaiting me in Wishaw.
Now, I know some of you might be surprised by my choice of transportation - wouldn't I rather take a carriage pulled by majestic steeds? Well, while I do adore horses and hope to one day ride a grand thoroughbred on a dreamy countryside tour, the trains are a trusty and comfortable companion for a solo traveller like myself!
The Tutu-fied Treat of Wishaw
Speaking of solo adventures, Wishaw was a haven for a solo ballerina. My first stop? The Wishaw Town Hall where I finally had a chance to check out the local dance studio, the Dance & Dream Studio. Now, these guys are a true inspiration! Their motto is * "Dance with Joy"*, and let me tell you, they live it! The studio is a gorgeous space - light and airy, with floor-to-ceiling windows letting the sun flood in, illuminating those graceful leaps and pirouettes. And, as luck would have it, they happened to be running a special 'Open Day', so I got to join in on a ballet class with the local dancers. It was delightful!
There was a lovely mix of ages - some fresh-faced youngsters who had barely left their petite allegro phases, some more experienced teens doing their chaîne turns with such graceful poise, and even a few senior dancers who just had a radiant joy about them. I felt right at home amongst them. We danced to some brilliant classical pieces, and I must admit, there were a couple of times where I might have accidentally incorporated a little ballet street into the routine... whoops! I couldn't help it, the pink tutu was just begging for a little extra spin and sass.
Pink Tutu in the Scottish Hills
After the ballet class, I went exploring! Wishaw's countryside is a dream. I hiked up a beautiful hill (with the tutu twirling, of course!), just past the town, where there was the most beautiful panorama. Green, lush fields rolled on forever, kissed by a brilliant blue sky, and dotted with majestic sheep grazing in the sunshine. And I was lucky enough to encounter some wild ponies! Those adorable creatures are such captivating creatures! Their soft coats shone like the sunlight hitting a gemstone, and their soulful eyes held an incredible amount of beauty and wisdom. They really know how to take the 'pose' as if they were the ballet stars!
Sharing the Love for Pink and Twirling
I met a lovely woman at the hilltop - Maggie - who was fascinated by my pink tutu and told me all about the local community events happening in the town. It was delightful to chat about all things pink and sparkly and I even taught her how to do a simple ballet move or two! It was lovely seeing the smiles on her face as she tried. It just shows - it's never too late to discover the magic of movement, no matter your age!
Later that evening, I found a delicious pub, called The Rose and Crown, where they did the most amazing pink lemonade with real raspberries. I almost squealed with joy when I saw it - my drink had pink glitter! They are obviously kindred spirits to this pink-loving, tutu-wearing ballet fanatic!
My Tutu Mission Continues
It's experiences like these - dancing in Wishaw, talking with local people, enjoying the scenery, that make my pink tutu travels so fulfilling. And that's what I'm all about - sharing the joy of dance, encouraging you all to embrace the beautiful and whimsical world of tutus and pirouettes, and above all, inspiring you to be happy, confident, and to live your life with that delightful twirl in your step!
So, keep those tutus twirling, lovelies! Until next time, Emma.
