Pink Tutu Design and Make at www pink tutu com

Darling, the June weather is here and we're all thinking of sunny days, blossoming blooms and vibrant colors. What better way to celebrate this season than with a custom-designed tutu that pops with personality and style?

I’ve always felt a tutu is more than just a costume, it's a canvas for creativity and a chance to express yourself. And this month I want to empower you to embrace your inner ballerina, so I'm sharing my insider tips on creating your very own show-stopping tutu that's bound to turn heads at the barre or on a sun-kissed summer evening.

Think about your palette first. Think about what reflects your personality best, and don’t be afraid to experiment! Personally, I love bold pinks and deep purples, reminding me of the blooming lavender that’s out at the moment.

Let's start with the bodice:

  • Choose a sleek and simple leotard in a neutral colour. This will act as a foundation, providing a blank canvas for your creative touches.
  • Embellish! Now, for the fun part! Think about embellishments. Sequins? A beaded trim? Or even a lace overlay, which adds a touch of sophistication? Visit Deborah Moy’s website , it’s fabulous for everything. You won’t be disappointed!
  • Don’t forget to think about the shape. Want something that flows elegantly or a bold statement with a structured neckline? I'm a sucker for a romantic neckline, as you know.

Now for the tutu skirt

  • You'll want the tulle to be light, airy, and that moves beautifully as you spin and leap. The most elegant and floaty tulle will always be nylon or a blend, it's easy to handle.
  • Don't limit yourself to a single colour. Think about mixing and matching! Use the same tone but experiment with shades for a multi-dimensional look that reflects a summer sunset.
  • And, you're going to want to practice! The more layers, the more glamorous it’ll be. Have you tried a triple layer?

Essential equipment for your custom creation:

  • Sewing machine
  • Measuring tape
  • Safety pins (and loads of them)!
  • Scissors (fabric scissors make cutting the tulle easier).
  • And of course, a needle and thread.

Remember darlings, you’re a ballerina! Your creativity knows no limits. So don’t be afraid to break the rules and create something that's uniquely yours. After all, there’s nothing more stunning than a confidence exuding woman in a tutu that reflects her spirit!
