Darling, itâs May already, can you believe it? The air is abuzz with a new season of ballets. All over the globe, dancers are taking to the stage and, honestly, darling, itâs all so thrilling. The artistic world is bursting with a kaleidoscope of talent, new takes on classic stories and some daringly original works.
First stop - New York. You canât escape a trip to see **American Ballet Theatre**, itâs an institution! This season, Iâve got my eye on their new production of *Giselle*. Theyâre re-imagining it with a more contemporary feel and have hired a brilliant costume designer. Iâve heard the second act will feature breathtaking aerial work that re-imagines the traditional forest scenes. Plus, they're showcasing their incredible dancers. We all know Misty Copeland is still an absolute firecracker, and I'm dying to see her tackle the role. The new prima, the dazzling and talented, Ashley Bouder, is one to watch. Oh, the power! Oh, the beauty!
Now, you've all seen *Swan Lake* at least a thousand times, but trust me, darling, **The Royal Balletâs** take this season at the **Royal Opera House** is worth every penny! The whole set looks like something out of a fairytale; exquisite costumes, stunning set designs... Oh, and did I mention theyâve even incorporated some breathtaking new projections?! The effect is quite extraordinary. And, oh, how could I forget their exquisite *Romeo & Juliet*. It's a masterpiece thatâs just as relevant and touching today. Plus, we mustnât forget our reigning queen, the magnificent Darcey Bussell! That womanâs just magical!
Letâs make a detour to the land of sunshine and siesta, **Spain** - home to the **Ballet Nacional de España.** Their current production is an innovative contemporary piece with vibrant traditional Spanish costumes and stunning choreography that will blow your mind. Imagine: passionate dancing, a fiery intensity, and a sparkle of flamenco. This, my dears, is what makes my heart beat. It's not your typical classical ballet but it is, without a doubt, one of the most breathtaking performances Iâve seen in a while.
Next up, I must talk about **San Francisco Ballet**. This is the city to watch, darlings. Theirs is a fresh, vibrant style. This year, their program features both classic works and innovative new pieces from up-and-coming choreographers, Iâm absolutely entranced by the companyâs stunning energy and daring talent. The set design is bold and modern, you will find yourself captivated by every detail. And, dare I say, there's a touch of San Francisco magic in each step!
**And, of course, London**. No dance fan can resist a trip to the capital. We must make time for the **English National Ballet**, especially now they've been touring a fantastic rendition of *The Sleeping Beauty*. This is the perfect ballet for a spring day - filled with elegance, grace, and of course, a fairytale ending! And be sure to get your tickets in advance! Tickets are hot, and seats go quickly. And while we're in the neighbourhood, let's pop in on **Birmingham Royal Ballet.** It is well-known that this ballet company consistently offers top-tier performances. You are going to be wowed by their interpretation of *Don Quixote*. There's some incredible partnering here, you won't believe it!
Here's the thing, darlings, no matter where you find yourself, there is sure to be some sensational ballet. Iâm sure youâre all asking yourself, âHow do I stay ahead of the game?â, how do I know where to find these magnificent performances? Well, darlings, Iâve got you covered. Your Guide to Ballet Fashion
It's always a good time to dress for the theatre! You can be as extravagant or subtle as you like, just have fun with your ballet attire, dear. The ultimate expression is to allow your individual style to shine!
**The Dress** Don't shy away from the âshow-stoppingâ silhouette! This year I love a luxurious evening dress in shimmering fabrics like silk or satin. Choose an A-line cut for an effortlessly graceful style, or if you want to make a more dramatic statement opt for a beautiful, floor-length gown.
**The Jewelry:** For your âballet blingâ I recommend opulent earrings and bold bracelets. Opt for something that complements your dress and gives a luxurious, âready-for-the-red carpetâ feel.
**The Shoes:** I always gravitate toward sleek heels, they just make a statement! Pick your perfect heel depending on the event. For more classic or contemporary ballet, go with a elegant court shoe, for a modern, more dramatic piece opt for an edgy and dramatic stiletto. Just remember to always check the venue's dress code! You wonât want to get sent home!
**And remember!** I love a good clutch. Keep your essentials like lipstick, perfume, and of course, your theatre tickets at your fingertips. Youâll thank me for that.
