Tutu Tuesday #1237: A Whirl Through 1855! 🩰

Hello lovelies! It's Emma, your favourite pink tutu-clad time traveler, back for another instalment of Tutu Tuesday! 💖 Today we're stepping back in time to September 11th, 1855, and taking a twirl through the fashion and ballet scene. Hold onto your bonnets, this is going to be a delightful journey!

Oh, how I've been longing to experience 19th century Paris! It's like stepping into a painting, all delicate silhouettes and intricate details. And speaking of details, you simply MUST see the ballerinas here! They dance in the most stunning gowns, layers upon layers of tulle and silk. It's a far cry from the streamlined tutus we're used to today. Back then, tutus were all about volume and flow, giving the dancers a truly ethereal appearance. Imagine billowing clouds of silk floating around them, a sheer symphony of grace and elegance! It's truly magical!

This is also the era of the Romantic ballet! It's all about ethereal creatures and delicate stories. I recently saw "Giselle" here, and oh my! The sheer heartbreak of the story and the passion of the dancing absolutely blew me away! The music is so captivating and the choreography… simply breathtaking! I have to say, seeing these ballerinas in their layered tutus, it felt like a ballet from a fairytale!

Now, the 1850s are a fashion haven! Oh, how I wish I could own all the fabulous creations that I see! Corseted waists, flouncy skirts, bonnets overflowing with ribbons… It's all so enchanting! I've been to so many dress shops and millineries, mesmerised by the artistry of the seamstresses. Even the simplest designs have so much heart and detail, just like a beautiful flower that's blossomed with care. And, of course, I couldn't leave Paris without a little indulgence for my wardrobe! Imagine my delight when I found a stunning pair of opera gloves adorned with beautiful embroidery - they are perfect to compliment a fancy evening dress!

And wouldn't you know it? Today, September 11th, 1855, the "Académie Impériale de Musique" (which later became the "Opéra de Paris") is having a special benefit performance of "Faust"! This masterpiece is by Gounod, and it's sure to be an absolutely dazzling affair! It's like stepping into a fantastical world with dazzling music, dramatic staging and costumes so incredible they make you want to burst into song yourself!

Now, let me tell you about my trip here. I took the train, and what a journey it was! Rolling through the countryside, watching the landscapes whiz past was like stepping into a storybook! And it gave me time to enjoy a cuppa (it wouldn’t be proper English travelling without one!). It’s amazing how far you can go by train, isn't it? The train, a symbol of progress, taking me to new worlds and stories.

Remember lovelies, we don't need to travel through time to experience these amazing eras - we can find magic in the details of our everyday lives. So, keep an eye out for beautiful things - maybe a flower blossoming, or the way the sunlight dances through leaves. We can all find a touch of magic and wonder in our everyday routines.

And remember, every day is Tutu Tuesday if you want it to be! Spread the love of tutus, spread the joy, and let your inner ballerina shine! I’m off to catch that opera performance! I hope you'll join me next Tuesday for another peek into the magical world of tutus!

Until then, twirl on! 💕
