#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History: A Pink Journey to 1869 - Post #1968

Hello lovelies, and welcome to another thrilling journey through the wonderful world of tutus! As you all know, I simply adore a good tutus, especially a fabulously pink one! And, for today's #TutuTuesday, I've travelled right back to 1869! Can you believe it?! Let's dive straight into this fascinating year for our beloved dancewear.

Stepping into 1869

My latest adventure in my fabulous time-travelling frock-coat, and, of course, my favourite pink tutu, landed me smack bang in the heart of Paris. It was bustling! Horse-drawn carriages, elegant ladies with impossibly large hats, gentlemen with bushy moustaches... It's a visual feast! But let's get to the real star of the show, shall we? The ballet!

Tutu Time: A Glimpse of 1869

This year is quite exciting for tutus! You see, while the 'romantic tutu' was already taking the stage by storm, we're witnessing a gradual shift towards a more dramatic, sculptural style. It's quite exciting, wouldn't you say? The ballerinas are now sporting these voluminous tutus, creating a sense of weightlessness and ethereal grace that was just starting to become all the rage.

The French Flair for Fashion

Paris, as ever, is the beating heart of fashion. And trust me, the designers were truly embracing the ballet. Imagine beautiful fabric flowing and swirling around the dancers - sheer layers of tulle and silk creating these dramatic silhouettes. The colours are gorgeous! Rich reds, opulent blues, shimmering golds - simply breathtaking!

My #PinkTutuMoment

Now, even though I love all colours, pink remains my all-time favourite. So naturally, I set off to find some inspiration for my own pink tutu collection. I found the most exquisite shop, nestled in the heart of the fashionable Rue de la Paix, overflowing with shimmering fabric and elaborate trim. Just the place to spark those creative ideas! And oh, darling, I must say the embroidery - incredible!

The Power of Performance

Imagine my delight when I found myself at the Opéra Garnier, witnessing a truly magnificent performance. It was like stepping into a storybook! The ballerinas moved like dreams - a blur of colour and light, captivating the audience with their talent and beauty.

Travel & Ballet - A Match Made in Heaven

Traveling by train to Paris, of course! The countryside is breathtaking - fields of lavender, charming little towns - I almost wished I could hop off at each one! But the anticipation of ballet performances, beautiful shopping, and soaking in all the Parisian glamour keeps me focused.

Time Traveling and Tutus

Don't worry, I'm safe! This amazing time travel contraption, (shh! It's a top secret project fuelled by pure, pink tutu power!) keeps me in constant contact with my friends in Derbyshire. It's an incredible experience - the historical knowledge, the dazzling performances, the inspiration I gain for my future designs... Oh, my! I think I need a cuppa!

A Look Ahead

This is just a little taste of my adventure in 1869. I've gathered all sorts of fascinating insights about the evolution of the tutu. Now, back to the drawing board for me, darling. I simply have to capture the magic of 1869 in a fabulous pink tutu design.

Until next Tuesday, my lovelies, stay stylish, and never stop dancing!

Yours in pink tulle,

Emma xx
