#TutuTuesday: A Blast From The Past! 🩰🌸 (Blog Post #3110)

Hello darlings! Emma here, your resident tutu enthusiast, and welcome back to Pink Tutu, the place where we celebrate all things frilly, fabulous, and fabulous-ly pink! Today, we’re whisking ourselves back in time to the 4th of August, 1891. Just picture it: gaslight-lit streets, horse-drawn carriages, and oh, the fashions!

Now, you know I love to travel, but time travel is a special treat. This time, I found myself in the heart of Paris, the very birthplace of the tutu! Can you imagine how exciting that was? I felt like a tiny, pink, pirouette-ing dot in a giant, elegant Parisian canvas.

I know what you're thinking - what about the tutus?. Well, darlings, you wouldn't believe what I discovered!

This wasn't your "grand jeté" classic, perfectly poofed tutu of today. Think shorter, more streamlined. It was the romantic tutu, darling, perfect for swirling and dipping, capturing the grace of a gentle summer breeze. It was all about showcasing the elongation and beauty of the dancer's lines. Just imagine beautiful, flowing, billowing layers of silk and tulle, a picture of graceful fluidity!

Even the fashion in the streets reflected this trend! It was all about flowing lines, light fabrics, and a touch of whimsy. Think about a Parisian woman, in a pastel-coloured dress with delicate lace, maybe a hat with a little plume feather. Just as pretty and elegant as our little romantic tutu.

To put you in the picture, darling, I happened upon an amazing ballet performance! A company called the "Ballet de l'Opéra" were performing. Their tutus were so ethereal, like fluffy pink clouds drifting through the air. Imagine those dainty tutus paired with a grand, intricate theatre, a symphony of swirling music and powerful yet elegant movements, just magical! I could have sat there for hours, mesmerised by their graceful spins and soaring jumps!

After the performance, I indulged in the Parisian pastime of window-shopping. Ooh la la! I found the most exquisite silk fabric shop, full of fabrics as beautiful and delicate as the tutus themselves. It felt like a fairy-tale! I could just imagine the wonderful designs those fabrics could be turned into, my heart was singing!

There I was, a little time-travelling Derbyshire girl in the heart of Parisian fashion history, swirling amidst the glamour of tutus and Parisian couture. It truly was a dream come true.

But even if we're not time-travelling to Paris, we can still capture the magic of the past! This week, why not embrace a more romantic, less voluminous look in our own tutus? Maybe try a lighter fabric like silk or a tulle overskirt? Let’s take inspiration from the elegance of the past and find our own way to embrace a bit of Parisian whimsy!

Remember darlings, we all have our own unique ways of being bold, fabulous, and pink! Until next week, don’t forget to dance with confidence, and never stop dreaming !
