Tutu Tuesday: #3201 - A Whirl Through Time to 1893! ๐ฉฐ๐ธ
Hello, my darling tutu lovers! It's your favourite pink-obsessed ballerina, Emma, back with another whirlwind adventure through time. Today, we're stepping back to 2nd May 1893!
Oh, the excitement! Just imagine the bustle of London, carriages clattering down the cobbled streets, and the aroma of freshly baked pastries wafting from nearby bakeries.
Today's trip, as always, is fuelled by my endless love for the ballet! As you know, I adore the stage and have the most marvellous time performing. Just last week, I waltzed across the stage at Covent Garden, the audience simply enthralled. I do love my job! And of course, my performances allow me to jump back in time. It's a pretty amazing side-hustle!
Speaking of time, I'm so thrilled to be exploring 1893! The ballet world was on fire this year. This is the year of La Belle au Bois Dormant, or "Sleeping Beauty" as we call it nowadays!
And what a ballet! Just picturing those elegant dancers in their breathtaking tutus... Now, don't think for a second that all the lovely dancers are clad in our modern tutus. The tutus were still quite different back in the day. A lot moreโฆ well, structured if you get my drift! They're like works of art, painstakingly created with layers and layers of tulle.
Of course, I can't go back in time without my own magnificent tutu! I'm wearing a gorgeous blush pink creation today. It's so dreamy! It has a lovely soft, billowing effect. My matching ballet slippers are sparkling with beads and bows, adding just the right amount of glitter.
Let's have a peek into what was happening in the world of fashion back in 1893: Ladies wore lovely, full skirts and a bustle in the back, with a tight-fitting bodice in a beautiful array of fabrics. Fancy hats, and elegant gloves were the finishing touch. Think delicate lace, silk and floral motifs - all very feminine and delicate! There's a real timeless beauty to the styles of this era.
So, what else is going on in London on this delightful spring day? Let's see... A performance at the Lyceum Theatre featuring the ever-popular Mr. Henry Irving. This is what Londoners did on an ordinary Tuesday afternoon!
Imagine being swept away by the enchanting world of theatre, lost in the emotions and narratives unfolding on stage. I just love those grand, theatrical shows. Don't forget your fan to dab your forehead after those poignant, tearful scenes!
Remember, my lovelies, history is our best fashion inspiration. We can learn so much from the elegance and timeless beauty of previous eras. And if you ever get the chance, I truly recommend stepping back in time to witness the incredible energy of Victorian London, full of colour and charm.
Until next time, wear a smile, embrace a pink tutu and don't forget to check out the lovely new additions in my online shop on pink-tutu.com!
Love always, Emma ๐ธ
