#TutuTuesday: A Glimpse Back to 1907 - A Whirl of Elegance!

Hello darlings, and welcome back to another Pink Tutu adventure! This is your gal Emma, and today marks the momentous 3945th #TutuTuesday blog post on www.pink-tutu.com – oh, how I do love a milestone!. And what a time to be a tutu enthusiast as we take a grand journey back to August the 6th, 1907! Buckle up buttercups, it's a history-tastic ride!

Stepping onto the cobbled streets of London, a bustling metropolis where glamour reigns supreme, I just adore the way every building is bathed in sunshine! Now, picture this: ladies clad in beautiful hats and frocks, the air alive with the joyous laughter of children and, of course, the elegant sway of the gentlemen in their suits! I just love the spirit of this time! Oh, and let’s not forget the quintessential sight – tutus, oh yes, my lovelies! They are simply everywhere, but what I wouldn't give for some of my signature pink tutus in this fashion paradise.

But now, on to what makes this day so special! Today is the date that the magnificent Covent Garden Opera House, our very own home of breathtaking ballet performances, unveils a new, magnificent production of “The Nutcracker”. This grand masterpiece by Tchaikovsky has captivated the world with its beautiful melodies, whimsical storytelling and, of course, its dazzling dance scenes. Don’t you just love it? I imagine the audience filled with beautiful ladies, their heads tilted slightly, adorned with ornate jewellery, mesmerised by the swirling beauty of the dancers, the fluttering tutus, and the exquisite grace of the story unfolding. The very stuff of dreams!

Speaking of dreams, can we take a moment to appreciate the absolute magic of ballet itself? There is something truly exquisite, even breathtaking about watching dancers flitting across the stage, * their delicate feet creating intricate patterns in their dazzling tutus, *a harmonious ballet of movement and light.* Pure magic!* And don’t even get me started on the elegant gowns of the opera singers and the impeccable tailcoats worn by the opera men! They look positively dapper – you should all follow their example, darlings!

For this blog, I specially travelled through time on a fabulous train trip from Derbyshire, the land of green meadows and charming little towns. It took a little time to pack the correct items for this time period, my tutus of course (because we all know a good tutu never goes out of style), some vintage fabrics and some stunning pearls!

Of course, no adventure is complete without a shopping spree!, and oh, dear ladies, London in 1907 is simply a dream! From charming hat shops filled with exotic feathers to tailors with shops overflowing with handsome brocades – it’s enough to send a girl into a full-blown sartorial swoon!. The most divine boutique in the entire city is, of course, Liberty of London. Here, you’ll find everything your heart desires, and the most exquisite tutus, naturally! It's a delight for the senses – and I just had to snag a stunning black tulle tutu! My dear, I could live in this shop! I think I shall come here each week for all my outfit choices.

Now, let’s get back to the tutus! You know I have to give you my insights on their glorious history! Did you know that back then, tutus were still finding their tutu legs, literally?! Yes, they had just started experimenting with the style! And you’ll be surprised, but there were no “classical tutus” yet! They were still trying to find their footing! A delightfully different era of tutu where the shorter skirts and the layers of tulle we see now weren't quite there! * Imagine! Just imagine, such an exciting evolution! * Imagine *tutus taking on different styles, different lengths,* a dance of change across time* *It is a whirlwind of fun and delightful history!

Now my darlings, I’ve just seen such an extraordinary play!, the actors were absolutely delightful, and I'm not just saying it for my Tutu Tuesdays, the stage sets and costumes were magnificent, absolutely incredible! They really did transport us to another world – oh, how I wish I had brought my signature pink tutu, what a wonderful accessory for such an evening! Imagine how I’d have looked twirling out of that breathtaking theatre. But we all know that I am simply tutu good at adjusting, and you’d find that the audience couldn’t take their eyes off me - you all would know the meaning of a tutu delight *I have my time machine for a reason and I will find that outfit I need! Oh the *fashion thrills! *

Speaking of thrills! I just want to invite all of you, my beloved tutu-lovers, to experience the incredible world of ballet for yourselves. Find a ballet school, join a class and step onto the stage for a moment of pure tutu magic!. You don't need to be an expert to fall in love with the graceful twirls and the elegant beauty of ballet, all you need is a passion for the art, a good pair of pointe shoes, and of course, the most magnificent tutu to top off your dancing day! Think pink!

Don’t forget darling’s to go shopping on Thursday. It's *pink tutu time! * You just never know what the next #TutuTuesday is going to bring!*

Oh, darling's until next Tuesday.

Love always,

Emma
