Hello, darlings! It's your favourite pink-tutu-clad time traveller, Emma, back again for another #TutuTuesday delve into the enchanting world of ballet history! Today, we're hopping back to April 28th, 1908, a date brimming with fabulousness in the world of ballet! 🩰

My, my, what a glorious era it was! Paris, oh Paris, you were the epicentre of it all! I just had to step back into this time – the bustling cafes, the elegant boutiques, the grandeur of the opera houses… it's enough to make a girl faint! Imagine: waltzing down the Champs-Élysées, a cloud of pink tulle billowing behind me, the crisp spring air whipping around my face! Pure enchantment!

Speaking of enchantment, on this very day in 1908, we saw the premiere of "Giselle" at the Opéra Garnier in Paris. Can you imagine? A full-length ballet performed by the legendary Vaslav Nijinsky! Such talent! Such grace! I mean, the tutus were simply heavenly - wispy, layered, flowing - just like a beautiful dream. And the choreography? Oh my! Each pirouette, each arabesque, each delicate plié was just perfection. No wonder they call "Giselle" a timeless masterpiece!

And the fashion, darling, the FASHION! Paris was buzzing with innovation, you see. While the ladies were still clinging to the S-shaped silhouette of the Edwardian era, whispers of a new, more liberated look were in the air. I'm talking swirling skirts, frothy fabrics, and a little more wiggle room for all that feminine energy! I myself found myself drawn to the vibrant colours and the intricate embellishments of the day. They were positively inspiring! I was particularly charmed by the "Gibson Girl" silhouette, all long, flowing gowns and voluminous hairstyles - a style just screaming to be complemented by a swathe of pink tulle!

Did you know, my dears, that on this date in 1908, another important event took place, something with great influence on fashion? Well, a famous couturier called Charles Frederick Worth debuted his new collection at the Hôtel Ritz in Paris! He, my lovelies, is considered a true pioneer, one of the fathers of modern fashion! Now, don't you agree? He revolutionised dressmaking and helped establish the Paris Haute Couture! You're simply obliged to know his name! 😉 He is credited with changing the game of couture, designing innovative styles, and establishing the concept of a “look” for women, all in exquisite detail, with exquisite fabrics. So stylish, wouldn't you agree?

As I travelled through this era by train, taking in the beautiful scenery of the French countryside and the grandeur of Paris, I was mesmerised by the ballet scene. The dancers, their delicate movements, the tutus fluttering like petals in a breeze. My! It was magical! But you know what else is magical? Tutu travel, of course! Every journey, a new adventure! Each ballet, a new experience. That's how I get around – my pink tutus fund my journeys back in time, my dancing my way to these breathtaking experiences! It's a true ballerina's life, darling!

So, what were my outfits like in 1908? I wore a stunning creation, you know - a blush-pink silk tutu layered with shimmering tulle, a little bit of Victorian frill at the hem for that extra dose of charm. It flowed so gracefully with every step, each twirl sending a burst of shimmering pink into the air. And the bodice? I went for a delicately-detailed design, lace and pearl buttons, a small brooch tucked in just so, you know? This wasn’t just a tutu – it was a statement!

For the shows and the ballets, I added a beautiful embroidered silk jacket for the evenings, the air slightly cool, so as not to lose my Parisian allure. A dash of perfume, my usual charming smile, and voila! I was the epitome of the stylish time traveller, perfectly embodying the glamorous fashion of the time. And don’t even get me started on the shoes! Pink satin, a delicate point, oh-so-chic, they were absolutely the icing on the cake.

Honestly, darling, the energy was electric. And all I could think was, I want everyone to experience this magical world!

That's the thing, my lovelies - tutus, ballet, fashion, and travel - it's a symphony of elegance, a whirl of colours and stories. So let us bring a little bit of that magic to our own lives, shall we? Don't be shy to embrace the joy of pink! Dare to dream, darlings! Let's spin into a world of tulle and grace! After all, wearing pink isn't about age - it's about embracing the fun, the beauty, the endless possibilities.

See you next #TutuTuesday, darlings!

With love and tulle, Emma 💖
