Tutu Tuesday: A Peek into the Past, Darling!
Post Number: 4133
Welcome back, darlings, to www.pink-tutu.com! It's Tuesday, and you know what that means… Tutu Tuesday! I've just hopped off the train from a rather lovely trip to Vienna, and my suitcase is absolutely overflowing with pink-hued wonders. More on that later, though, as I want to share something truly exciting with you all! This week, we're travelling back in time…to the magnificent year of 1911! Can you believe it? Just imagine the gowns, the headpieces, the sparkle… oh, darling, it was just divine!
Now, you all know I'm passionate about the history of our beloved tutu – it’s a testament to the powerful and feminine grace that we ballerinas bring to the stage. So, where were we on this day in 1911?
Let's just say, tutus were already making quite the splash across the globe. You know, Parisian fashion was always the pinnacle of chic, darling! But back then, tutus weren't just on stage - they were everywhere! *Think flapper-style skirts, billowing fabric, and just the tiniest hint of *audacious drama…* all perfect for swirling and twirling through the roaring twenties.
We were still in the golden era of classical ballet, darlings. You wouldn’t catch me waltzing around in a tutu without proper posture and a perfect plié – and let me tell you, there was no shortage of talent and elegance in that era. Think legendary figures like Anna Pavlova – a total diva! She was captivating the world with her beautiful performances and graceful movements…truly the queen of ballet! The famous Russian Ballet company was taking Europe by storm! This meant even more incredible costume designs…the tutus, darlings, were just exquisite!
So, while 1911 didn't have the dazzling modernity that we have today, they certainly understood glamour. The beauty of it all was, tutus weren’t limited to the theatre! Just picture this:
Imagine, strolling down the promenade in a perfectly pleated tutu, paired with a dainty bolero and a beautiful silk shawl. It's almost scandalous, wouldn't you agree? This was a look, darling.
Of course, fashion evolved with the times…but some things are timeless! This brings me to another exciting announcement – I’ll be revisiting the year 1911, specifically Vienna, for a little performance this weekend! My friends and I are going to perform a classical ballet at the opera house! Oh darling, it’s so thrilling! And naturally, the wardrobe… just breathtaking! I have this beautiful tutu - you guessed it - a soft, delicate shade of pink!
I know, you're wondering: “Emma, how do you travel through time?” Well, darling, let’s just say my love for the ballet allows me to dabble in the magical realm of dancing between dimensions. After each ballet performance, I gain a little bit more time-traveling power. I even earn a few pounds to fuel my love for vintage fashion! And when it comes to vintage fashion, you already know this pink-tutu-loving ballerina is living for the latest finds!
Don’t forget to keep an eye out for new blog posts, darlings. And most importantly, don’t be afraid to wear a little pink…or maybe a full pink tutu!
Stay twirling, my loves!
**Your Tutu-loving friend,
Emma**
P.S. I will post a photo of my new tutu on the blog next week! Keep an eye out, darlings! 😉
