#TutuTuesday: A Whirlwind of Twirling Through Time!

Welcome back, my darlings! This is Emma, your resident Tutu Time Traveller, ready to whisk you away to another delightful slice of tutu history! It’s Tuesday, so you know what that means – #TutuTuesday on www.pink-tutu.com! Today we’re skipping back to the glorious year of 1912, October 22nd, a Tuesday of course (always so good to stay on topic!), and guess what, we’re right in the heart of Paris. Ooh la la! This fabulous city, the beating heart of fashion, is also where tutus first truly blossomed! But before I regale you with more enchanting tales of tulle and twinkling toes, I’ve just got to share my excitement!

Yesterday I witnessed something absolutely divine – the premiere of a ballet called “La Belle au Bois Dormant" at the Paris Opera House! My goodness, darling, the sheer splendour of it all! This exquisite tale of Sleeping Beauty, with its sumptuous costumes and swirling dances, left me speechless. My dear friend, Anna, who's quite the connoisseur of all things beautiful (especially the finer things in life!), agrees – this ballet will undoubtedly be a legendary classic, with its magnificent storybook atmosphere. We practically squealed with delight! Speaking of delightful things...

A Twirl Back In Time: The 1912 Parisian Fashion Scene

As we flit through the glamorous streets of Paris in 1912, the air hums with creativity! Everywhere you look, the fashions are quite simply magnifique. Women’s attire is becoming ever more feminine, with soft, flowing lines, ruffles, and elegant embroidery. And just imagine the hats! Oh my! The creativity in those hats is nothing short of astounding. Hats have really come into their own - so chic and daring! They embellish with plumes and feathers - oh, and don’t even get me started on the magnificent veils, perfect for adding an air of mystery and allure. And then we have tutus. Now, remember darling, we’re in the heart of a ballet boom, and Paris is the place to see it!

Imagine a ballet dancer – all grace and elegance – dressed in a tutu, its fabric so light and airy that it seems to float effortlessly around her every move. We're talking tulle! A light and beautiful material that moves so beautifully as the dancer spins, like whispers of silk churning in the breeze! You see darling, while tutus might not have been invented at this moment, this era has seen them go from humble training gear to a fashion staple on stage, and now, even in everyday life! The dance of tutus is gaining more and more momentum! I can feel it! It is only a matter of time before everyone in the world is twirling and leaping about in beautiful pink tutus! It is only a matter of time before everyone adopts this beautiful, feminine garment!

The tutu in 1912 isn't just an ordinary ballet staple - it's a symbol of feminine empowerment! Remember, my dears, it is not just for ballet. This gorgeous garment has an amazing impact on women's clothing in general. In the fashion magazines, tutus are now cropping up in sketches, advertisements, and even the streets of Paris! The shape of the tutu, its flowing fabric – it’s inspiring so much excitement!

And oh my, don’t forget the colour - pink! Just this week, I purchased a gorgeous pink tutu dress! So utterly delightful! It makes me feel as though I could practically take flight and pirouette amongst the Parisian skies. Why, just yesterday, while gazing at the Seine River, a gentleman who passed by, a young artist by the name of “Jean”, told me how “beautiful pink is!” He said the color symbolizes so much: love, passion, kindness and grace! You can’t argue with that now can you? He added it reminds him of the “divine feminine”, which in turn reminds me of all things graceful – like a ballerina, naturally, with her beautiful dance and that enchanting tutu she twirls!

A Dashing Ballet Journey To Paris By Train

How did I end up in Paris this time? Well darling, what else can I say - I travelled by train! I am absolutely mad for trains – they carry you into an enchanted world of swirling carriages, gleaming tracks and ever-changing views. And there’s just so much to observe from the window as the world passes by – the colours, the people, and all the other fascinating places we pass along the way.

Why not journey to a world of fashion, ballet and magic right alongside me?! You can be my guest on my weekly train excursions, which I film and edit and put on my Pink Tutu website. (Don’t forget to watch for the next upload after I post this blog post!)

This trip was a whirlwind, so let’s have a look at some of the things I experienced, all of which helped inspire this post:

My Favourite Fashion Moments In Paris

• First up – the shops! From the luxury boutiques of the Champs-Élysées to the charming small ateliers of the Left Bank, the shopping is truly phenomenal here. I have been busy making some truly delightful discoveries! I’ve picked up some silk gloves in exquisite colours, lace trimmings to accentuate my tutu outfits, and the most gorgeous beaded brooch you’ve ever seen! A little pink flamingo wearing a pink tutu of its own!

A night at the theater! Oh darling, how could I possibly go to Paris without witnessing the glorious magic of ballet? It's simply the best form of entertainment. I have to say the Paris Opera House really does live up to its grand reputation! I even saw a performance by a lovely ballerina named Anna Pavlova, a beautiful artiste who’s taking the dance world by storm. What a beautiful sight to see, that stunning ballet tutu against the softly lit stage - magic in its rarest form!

• And what’s a visit to Paris without a delicious French pastry? The pastry shop on the corner by the train station serves the most gorgeous éclairs and macarons – they really are works of art, and they taste heavenly as well! And while I'm on this topic, do not leave Paris without a taste of the most heavenly pink champagne! Absolutely divine!

Looking Forward:

As this trip has shown me, tutus are everywhere this year! But it is only the beginning! And I can’t wait to see what exciting developments in the world of fashion are going to unfold in the years ahead, and of course, keep you posted in this blog. You can look forward to more thrilling travel stories, fashion finds, ballet inspirations, and lots more pink tutus - it is an obsession darling! Next week’s #TutuTuesday post is all about tutus on stage – in ballet, in the theater, even in musicals. It’s going to be another glorious blast from the past so stay tuned and do join me on the website next week!

But darling, it's time to wrap things up for this blog post! Don’t forget to wear your pink tutu out in public today, and spread the love of tutus. Don’t be afraid to express yourself and have fun! Until next Tuesday darling! Remember to catch my train excursions next week on Pink Tutu website too!
