Tutu Tuesday: A Whirlwind Through the 1920s! #5098
Hello my lovely Tutu Twirlers! It’s Emma here, and boy, have I got a splendid trip to tell you about! I've just returned from a delightful time-hopping adventure back to September 10th, 1929 – a truly fabulous era for dance!
I arrived in Paris, which is the centre of the fashion world right now – and tutus are in! Let me tell you, these are no dainty little numbers you see today – they're massive! Think layers upon layers of tulle, flowing and dramatic. The colour palette is as daring as the designs, with vibrant hues like emerald green, shocking pink (a personal favourite!), and sunshine yellow taking centre stage.
You see, it's the "Roaring Twenties," and everything is about excitement and change! Women are finding their voices and expressing themselves through bold style choices, and the dance scene is reflecting this shift. I caught the most dazzling performance by the renowned Ballets Russes, led by Sergei Diaghilev, which was breathtaking.
What struck me was the sheer beauty of the costuming – think vibrant silks and velvets, dazzling embroidery, and oh, the sparkle! The dancers were a symphony of colour, gracefully leaping and twirling in elaborate tutus that swept the stage! You could practically hear the audiences gasp in delight. It was a spectacle unlike anything I'd ever seen.
But back to my mission - pink tutus! You'll be delighted to know, my dear friends, that this decade is absolutely bursting with pink. From shimmering silks and frothy dresses to those show-stopping tutus, pink is taking the world by storm! I'd even dare to say it's starting to rival that eternally popular black – well, nearly, that is!
I have to confess, even my inner fashionista couldn't resist taking advantage of the fabulous shopping opportunities Paris had to offer in 1929. The grand department stores on the Champs-Élysées were a kaleidoscope of styles – a vintage fashion enthusiast’s dream! I simply had to treat myself to a gorgeous pink tulle creation – oh, to have a shop overflowing with exquisite pink tutus and frothy lace gowns!
I can't wait to start adding some 1920s elements to my own wardrobe – those shimmering metallic fabrics and playful fringes, paired with the perfect shade of pink tutu…pure bliss!
I might just bring back some inspiration for my own collection of custom-designed pink tutus, my little Tutu Twirlers – we may have a special "Roaring Twenties" collection coming your way soon!
Remember to keep an eye on my blog each Tuesday for more time-hopping Tutu Tuesdays! Until next time, keep twirling in your fabulous tutus, and do try to make everything pink, just like me!
With love and sparkle,
Emma
