#TutuTuesday: A Twirl Back in Time! (Post 5215)

Hello my lovely Tutu-lovers! It's Emma, your favourite pink-tutu-clad time-travelling ballerina, and it's another #TutuTuesday, which means it's time to dive into the captivating history of ballet! Today we're waltzing our way back to 8th December 1931 - get your dancing shoes ready, darling!

It's a bit of a chilly December day, but I've wrapped myself in a beautiful, pink silk shawl and am heading straight for the theatre in Paris, darling! Ooh, there's nothing more exciting than a bustling, vibrant Parisian theatre! There’s so much buzz here - the air practically crackles with the excitement of a grand premiere. Can you believe that in 1931, we have absolutely beautiful costumes - feather boas, sequined headdresses and a symphony of vibrant colours just makes the stage sparkle!

Speaking of sparkling, my dear Tutu-fans, the costumes worn by the dancers in this particular performance are exceptional. And it wouldn't be #TutuTuesday without a proper chat about the most wonderful, twirly garment in the world, the TUTU! You can imagine how delighted I was to learn about the evolving world of ballet tutus in the 1930s. You see, back then, the classic, romantic, pouter-pigeon tutu we love so much, darling, was still in its early, oh so stylish, form! Think shorter, more delicate tutus, with a focus on the lightness and flow of the ballerina's movement. Absolutely enchanting, darling!

Oh, and I simply must tell you about the amazing performance I saw! It's called "Giselle," and it's such a gorgeous ballet, darling, full of captivating emotions, graceful movements, and some utterly magical tutus. They just glide across the stage in those romantic, twirly beauties - it's breathtaking, darling! It's stories like these, about love, loss and heartbreak, that truly bring the dance to life. And with each turn, pirouette and grand jeté, those beautiful tutus tell the story even more eloquently.

Now, the best part of these 1930s tutus, my loves, is the exquisite detail, which truly enhances their grace and femininity. Picture lace, ribbons, and those perfectly fluffy tulle layers dancing as the ballerina leaps. Sigh, absolutely exquisite! Oh, I've already seen four amazing ballet performances in Paris, all of which are simply exquisite! I even saw Serge Diaghilev’s ballet company perform - the excitement in the audience was absolutely electric, darlings!

Speaking of exquisite details, I absolutely had to add some Paris chic to my wardrobe this morning! And what better way to do it than to visit the fabulous Rue de la Paix for a little bit of retail therapy! Oh, this vintage dress shop, nestled away in a cute little courtyard is just a gem, darling! This vintage silk dress, with its stunning embroidery, was calling my name. Oh, I've added a touch of Parisienne sparkle to my wardrobe. I even got a new beret and silk gloves! The best part? They compliment my pink tutu, absolutely perfectly, darling!

This evening, my dearest Tutu-lovers, we are off to see "La Boheme," which is a story of passionate love. How could you possibly go to Paris and not experience a romantic operatic masterpiece?! And you just wait, the beautiful costumes for that will be simply divine!

Don't forget, darling, join me next #TutuTuesday for a new journey through time. I’ve just bought a fabulous, vintage pink silk hat - it is utterly magnificent - I'll have a few snaps to share next week. I think I’ve fallen in love with 1930s Paris, my Tutu-lovers. Oh, and don't forget to visit my website www.pink-tutu.com to browse all my tutu treasures! Until next time, don’t forget to twirl your way to happiness!

All my love, Emma xo
